Blog of the Year 2012 Award

Last week I was nominated by Eunice at Living and Lovin a.k.a. Nuts For Treasure for the prestigious Blog of the Year 2012 Award! I was quite amazed and overwhelmed by such an honor. I am deeply grateful to Eunice, who has been a blog follower of mine almost from the beginning for bestowing this honor on me.

There are days that go by when I wonder if I shouldn’t just give up the whole food blog thing. I ask myself repeatedly, “Is it really helping anybody?” “Is it beneficial?” “Is it worth the time investment?” I am just about to scrap the whole thing and then I get nominated for an award like this!

Food blogging is an interesting endeavor. Sometimes you get people who “follow” your blog and then you never hear from them again. Others don’t actually “follow” your blog but “like” or “comment” occasionally. Then there are those special folks in your community who encourage you frequently by “liking,” “commenting,” and even sampling some of your recipes. Probably my most enjoyable moments are when I hear back from someone who has actually made a recipe and loved it! This is such a small food blog that it doesn’t happen very frequently, but it certainly is special when it happens.

In thinking over who I wanted to award this nomination to, I had a couple of criteria. First, I wanted it to be a blog with lovely pictures since that’s what attracts me to blogs in the first place. Second, I wanted it to feature recipes I would actually try. And, third, I wanted it to be a blog where I’ve had a lot of interaction with the other food blogger – either through “likes” or “comments,” – be it mine or theirs. Fourth, I wanted to find blogs that hadn’t received this award before, but there are a few that are too good not to mention so they just get another star in their blog!

I really hope you will check out some of these links. You will find some amazing recipes at each one.

The ‘rules’ for this award are simple:

  1. Select another blog or other blogs who deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award;
  2. Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award;
  3. Include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award at the Thought Palette and provide these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)
  4. Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them
  5. You can now also join our Facebook group – click ‘like’ on this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook group and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience
  6. As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

There are stars to collect! Yes, there are stars to collect!

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once – this award is different! When you begin you will receive the 1 star award, and every time you are given the award by another blog, you can add another star!

There are total of 6 stars to collect.

You can check out your favorite blogs, and even if they have already been given the award by someone else, you can still award them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

Here are the blogs I’ve chosen for the Blog of the Year 2012 Award – and why. I’ve chosen ten of my favorite blogs although I could have chosen more or less.

Petit4Chocolatier - Judy is a chocolate aficionado extraordinaire!  If you love chocolate you will love her blog. She is truly an artist. Her pictures of cupcakes are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! I know she has already received this award, so here is her second star!

Recipes for Our Daily Bread  - Diane has lots of great recipes on her blog and has won awards for her hospitality ministry. She’s my kind of gal!

Tamara Leigh: The Kitchen Novelist - Every day she has a delicious looking idea for dinner. Her presentation is beautiful and she makes things that sound so scrumptious. I LOVE her blog. For those of you who enjoy reading fiction she dabbles in writing novels every now and then when she can get time away from her food blog! (wink, wink :-)  )

Charles and Kimberly’s Recipes - I absolutely love their daily recipes. Everything looks so amazing and they do a great job of getting close up pictures that causes you to salivate over the texture of each recipe.

Recipes From My Kitchen - Fly Fish Brat is one of the few folks that actually try my recipes on a regular basis and let me know how they turn out. And her recipes are fabulous down-home recipes every cook needs.

Buttercream Baroness - If you want to see baked goods beautifully presented you’ve got to check out this blog. Her stuff always looks so beautiful and elegant. Love her recipes.

What’s 4 Dinner Solutions - they have several bloggers at this site, but I have to admit to loving the breakfasts the most. So creative and inspirational….and I love the presentation.

The Southern Lady Cooks - Judy has an amazing array of baked goods and recipes that look to die for! You will love this blog.

Normal Cooking - Lindsay is continually trying new recipes! I love seeing cooks who aren’t afraid to experiment or try new things in the kitchen. She has posted some amazing finds. I’m sure my readers will love looking through her recipes.

My Boulangerie - Jillian has a wonderful array of baked goods with creative ways for sharing them. She asked me to participate in her 12 Days of Christmas where she features a different Christmas cookie the 12 days before Christmas. You can look for my Cranberry Nut Swirls there!

Thanks again to all my fans for making the Blog of the Year 2012 Award happen. Without interested followers this could never have happened. If you get a chance, check out these blogs. You will be so glad you did!
