Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies
Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies are sensational. I was looking through my Pinterest boards the other day to see if I could find a cookie with rainbow sprinkles in them and I found this quick and easy recipe. I loved the idea of using a whole cup of jimmies in a batch of cookies. Not only that, this recipe uses a boxed cake mix making it all the easier. Basically, this is like a sugar cookie with a whole lot of sprinkles thrown in!

I make a few recommendations for improvement to this recipe. I decreased the oil from 1/2 cup to 1/3 cup. The difference means the cookies come out full and puffy rather than a little flat. This is actually my second batch of this recipe.
My first one turned out a lot flatter than I would have liked. One other suggestion is that you use only jimmie sprinkles and not nonpareils. If you use nonpareils they will color the cookie dough–usually lavendar! I also increased the amount of vanilla in the recipe which makes the taste just pop!
If you love funfetti-confetti-sprinkles in frostings for cakes, cupcakes, and cookies, you will love them in actual cookie batter too! These lovely cookies are so easy to whip up. You can have a batch ready for the oven in 5 minutes. Yeah, you heard that right. While the original recipe suggests a bake time of 10 minutes, mine actually took 12 minutes. These cookies are ready to serve in under 20 minutes. Wow!
If you’re looking for a great cookie to make for the kids for Easter celebrations consider this lovely cookie. It’s also great for family picnics–these pack up easy and they’re not a gooey mess. Take them along to office parties, baby showers (they will match any theme!), or take them along with you as your watch your son’s or daughter’s soccer, hockey, or baseball practice. These cookies are heavenly. You won’t be disappointed by giving Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies a try.
When I initially posted this recipe in March 2013, I was still using an iPhone for a camera so my photos weren’t as crisp and clear as I would have liked. I recently remade these cookies (January 2016) for friends and reshot the pictures. These cookies smell amazing after they’re cooked. My kitchen had such a wonderful fragrance. Put Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies on your next dessert menu. You won’t be disappointed.
We love these delicious Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies. They are so quick and easy to make too.
These cookies are so festive. They make great Easter cookies.
Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies are a fabulous cookie for any occasion.
Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies make a great dessert for tailgating parties.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Add baking powder to cake mix. Stir to combine.
Add eggs, vanilla, oil and sprinkles.
Stir ingredients to combine.
Scoop the cookie dough with a small cookie scoop and place on cookie sheets sprayed with cooking spray.
Bake at 350 for about 12-13 minutes. You probably need to keep an eye on your timer and keep checking your oven regularly so you don’t overbake the cookies. These cookies puffed up beautifully and didn’t flatten out.
Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies are great for baby showers – the colors match any theme.
Don’t these look scrumptious? Your kids will love these amazing cookies for after school snacks with a glass of milk.
Every bite of Funfetti Cake Batter Cookies will have you salivating.
Here’s the recipe.

My aunt made these for my birthday a few years ago and I loved them so much! I have made them multiple times since! I have used chocolate cake and gluten free funfetti! All are delicious! The gluten free kind didn’t really flatten much, but the cookie balls were still delicious! Also I used a little less than a full cup of sprinkles since the mix already had some and the box of mix is only 17oz instead of the 18.25 oz. I probably could have cut the sprinkles down to 1/2 c and they would have been perfect!

Why can’t you just use a Funfetti Cake Mix instead of French Vanilla?

Hi, Elaine. I was following another person’s recipe. That’s what they used. I don’t see why you couldn’t use a funfetti cake mix as well.

Your note about decreasing the oil: IS 1/3 cup the final amount that worked best for you? OR did you decrease it to 1/4 of a cup in the future to keep them from flattening out too much?
Thanks!

I love the easiness of this recipe, Gaby. I’ve made it with multiple flavors of cake mix too, and everyone works out wonderfully.

Hi Gaby. The original recipe called for 1/2 cup oil. I made one batch that way but the cookies flattened out too much. The second match I only used 1/3 cup oil and found that worked a lot better. Hope that helps.
