When John was teaching a Sunday school class at a church in Cedar Hill in the 2000s, one of the gals in our class made this marvelous “Hot Sauce” every time we had a Tex-Mex potluck–which was often. I finally asked Mylia for the recipe and she told me, “It’s so easy!”
I’ve had this Easy Homemade Salsa in my book over five years and I’ve finally gotten around to making it myself. Mylia was right. This recipe E-A-S-Y. You can adjust the amounts to suit yourself. If you want a hotter sauce, then add more jalapeno peppers when you blend it. I actually used the chopper option on my immersion blender and it worked fine, but a Vitamix or other blender will work just as well.
If you enjoy salsa recipes you may also like my Chunky Homemade Salsa, Pioneer Woman’s Restaurant-Style Salsa or even my Mango Salsa. No matter what you call it–whether hot sauce or salsa–if you like hot, spicy appetizers, any of these recipes do the trick.
I took a batch of Mylia’s Easy Homemade Salsa to our Sunday school class’s Build Your Own Taco party last Sunday night and it got cleaned out pretty quickly. I loved the taste of this recipe–and everybody else did too. If you’re looking for a splendid salsa-type recipe to serve on the side with quesadillas, breakfast burritos, tortilla chips or any other Tex-Mex recipe then give this amazing Easy Homemade Salsa recipe a try. You’ll be licking your lips in no time…..so will everyone else!
Easy Homemade Salsa is a fantastic appetizer to make for any holiday party, backyard barbecue or any time you’re serving Tex-Mex.
Serve the salsa with tortilla chips for a quick and easy side dish for any potluck.
Easy Homemade Salsa is a great appetizer for tailgating parties too.
Here’s what I did.
There are only 5-ingredients in this recipe.
Place onions and jalapeno slices in your blender. I used the chopper option on my emulsion blender.
Add cilantro and garlic salt.
Add canned whole, peeled tomatoes and their juice.
Process for about 5-10 seconds.
You can serve this salsa as a side with any Tex-Mex entree.
If you like your salsa with more heat, simply add more jalapeno pepper. I stopped at one, but the recipe calls for one or two depending on what you like.
Here’s a close up of the salsa.
Easy Homemade Salsa is the perfect appetizer to make when you don’t have a lot of time on your hands. This recipe only takes about 5 minutes to make!
Here’s the recipe.
