17 Tossed Salads with Fruit
Gluten Free Living – 2014
I have to admit I have a penchant for green salads with fruit in them! All kinds of fruit–berries, peaches, pears, apples, pineapple–I’ve got recipes that feature all of these and more! All of these featured 17 Tossed Salads with Fruit are fantastic. Many of them have their own homemade salad dressings which are usually along the healthy side. All but one recipe is gluten free. I use Cherry Preserves in my Harvest Turkey Salad with Cherry Vinaigrette and I’m not sure if flour or cornstarch is used as a thickener in that product, so I refrained from calling that recipe gluten free. Although, I’m sure you can find some Cherry Preserves that are gluten free.

These salads are really great fare to pull out during the hot days of summer because they’re all light and refreshing. If you enjoy tossed green salads that are light on veggies but high in fruit, then I think you will enjoy these scrumptious salads. All of these salads have assorted nuts and cheeses which also provide depth of flavor and great textures for the salad. Most of these salads are meatless, but there are a few with meat. However, if you’re wanting a dinner main-dish salad, adding grilled chicken would certainly add the protein and heartiness to any of these salads if you desire that. I have served all of these scrumptious salads for company at one time or another and everyone always raves over them. I think you will, too!

I really love fruit in salads, too, Teresa! Unfortunately, my husband doesn’t, so I just usually make 2 different salads for us, with the same dressing. All of these look absolutely wonderful! So many unique ingredients and salad dressings. I look forward to trying them!

My husband was in the same boat as yours, but about 2 or 3 weeks ago, after making tossed salads with fruit for the past 5 years on a very regular basis, he changed his tune. He told me he is finally starting to enjoy salads with fruit in them! So keep trying 🙂
