Healthy Apple Cider Salad Dressing
Healthy Apple Cider Salad Dressing is another delicious salad dressing recipe that’s sugar free, artificial sweetener free, gluten free, oil free, healthy, low calorie and delicious too! If you read my salad dressing post yesterday, I mentioned that I wanted to use the same basic ingredients — Greek yogurt and honey but mix up the juice and vinegars. Well, I’ve done that today and made two different salad dressings that are tasty, creamy, and delicious.

The inspiration for this recipe comes from my Healthy Orange Balsamic Salad Dressing. I used the same basic idea, changing out the vinegars and juices, and adjusting the ratios.
If you’re looking for a quick and easy salad dressing that only uses four ingredients, takes about 5 minutes to make and is healthy to boot, then this is your recipe! It’s especially great in the fall when apple cider is in season. Enjoy.
When I initially posted this recipe in October 2012, I was still learning about food photography, so my pictures were less than pleasing. Even still, this salad dressing recipe got a lot of pins on Pinterest. I recently remade the recipe (May 2015) along with a salad and other fixings for a gal and her family who are members of our church (and formerly in our Sunday school class).
She was laid up with severe back pain, so I asked her if I could bring her a meal since she could not get out of bed. Even though her sister-in-law was helping out with the children and cleaning, they did not mind a home-cooked meal.
Because I didn’t have any advanced notice that I would be bringing their family a meal, I had to go with recipes where I had the ingredients on hand. So a fresh tossed salad with Healthy Apple Cider Salad Dressing made the cut since it has only 4 ingredients and I happened to have all of them on hand. (Plus I wanted to get rid of some apple cider I had in the fridge).
I also made them the chicken recipe of Chicken or Tuna Tempter, (a tasty Chicken Noodle Casserole recipe). Cracked Sugar Cookies, and gave them some fruit and Chocolate Banana Bread Streusel Muffins for breakfast the next day. I had frozen the muffins previously so it was easy to pull them out on a moment’s notice and bring them along.
It was amazing how it all worked out. I had just enough honey for this recipe. Just enough peas and other ingredients for the Chicken or Tuna Tempter, and just enough ingredients on hand to make everything I brought them without having to go to the store (which I didn’t have time to do because it would have slowed me down considerably).
I’ve changed the initial amounts for Healthy Apple Cider Salad Dressing and I like this new rendition quite a bit better. I hope you give it a try the next time you want to make up a healthy salad dressing for your family. You can also substitute apple juice for the apple cider if you can’t locate it. Enjoy.
Healthy Apple Cider Salad Dressing is wonderful in flavor and texture. It’s light, yet just the right consistency for any kind of salad.

I just have to say that apple cider and honey have lots of sugar, so why is it called sugar free? This looks delicious and that salad looks amazzzing. Im going to try it but a little differently. Im gonna use acv, carrot juice, and honey. Is there anything else i can use for thickness thats fat free instead of yogurt? Cuz i hate yogurt

The sugars in fruits and honey don’t process through the body the same way refined cane sugar does. They do not do near the damage to the pancreas that refined sugar does either. In that way the recipe is sugar free.
I can’t think of anything at the moment to substitute for yogurt except perhaps some of the soy-based products for vegan diets. I’m not sure how fat free they are. Have you tried Greek yogurt? It has a completely different texture than regular yogurt. It’s very thick like sour cream.
Hope you find something that works for you.

LOL I am going backwards tonight. I was thinking” apple cider” to make your dressing at your cranberry dressing post.

The Cranberry Raspberry dressing is good, too. I would even recommend it for a fruit dip.
