Ranch Bacon and Cheddar Dip
2013 – Gluten Free Living
Well, I saved the best for last! Ranch Bacon and Cheddar Dip is a dynamite dip. It has the savory flavors of bacon and cheddar cheese with the delightful addition of Ranch dressing mix. It’s the Ranch dressing mix that makes it unique and sumptuous. This simple four-ingredient recipe was the one that got the most raves from company. It’s also the one everyone kept coming back for continually when I served it.

Seriously, no one could get enough of this great tasting recipe. They dipped it with sun chips and crackers. They dipped it with veggie dippers. Some ate it without anything at all! But across the board, everyone–pre-teens, teenagers, and adults–gave this tasty recipe their unconditional seal of approval! And they were greatly saddened when it ran out!
I was trying to come up with different ways to serve veggies to our church workers throughout our week of Vacation Bible School. I made several Hummus recipes, a neat Jalapeno Taco Party Appetizer, a fabulous hot Cheesy Bean Dip and a tasty Garden Vegetable Ranch Dip. All of these were fantastic recipes. But Ranch Bacon and Cheddar Dip came in first place!
I happened to see the recipe on the back of my Hidden Valley Dips Mix package and decided to go with it. I had everything on hand so why not give it a go? Isn’t it interesting how recipes you don’t even plan to make end up being everyone’s favorite! I made all kinds of coffee cakes, cookies, fruit and veggie platters, dips, hummus recipes, and tortilla roll ups. But it was this recipe that was the most talked about, and turned out to be everyone’s favorite!
This recipe is gluten free. But it’s neither low in calories, nor particularly healthy, since Ranch dressing mix has maltodextrin and MSG. But it is one of the tastiest, most delicious and flavorful dip recipes you’ll ever come across. If you’re looking for a spectacular, savory dip for chips, crackers, or even veggies, then consider this M-A-R-V-E-L-O-U-S recipe!
Hey, it only has four ingredients–it’s really easy to make up. It’s so big on taste that you will WOW your company in nothing flat! But who says you have to make this great tasting dip for company? Make up a batch for yourselves to eat during your favorite movie or sporting event! Yay.
I initially posted this recipe in August 2013. I was so busy making food for Vacation Bible School snacks that I didn’t take the time to stage everything nicely. My pictures were really poor as a result. Nor could you tell that this recipe uses bacon and cheese! I recently remade this recipe (February 2019) for our Friday night care group. I also served it for a college luncheon after church one Sunday. This was a huge hit for both groups. I served it with bagel chips and sun chips. No one could stay out of it. Every drop of dip was cleaned out with folks coming back looking for more. 🙂
This time I garnished the dip with both Cheddar Cheese and bacon before serving it. It had more cheese and more bacon that way and I think it was even better than the first go round. Ranch Bacon and Cheddar Dip is terrific for tailgating parties, potlucks, baby showers or anytime you’re getting together with friends. Believe me. There won’t be a drop left when you’re ready to go home. Really.
Ranch Bacon and Cheddar Dip won first prize! It was everyone’s favorite recipe at our Vacation Bible School workers’ brunches every day a few weeks ago.
Everyone savored this delicious dip and wanted so much more! We served it with bagel chips, sun chips, pita bread dippers, and veggie dippers.
Ranch Bacon and Cheddar Dip is S-E-N-S-A-T-I-O-N-A-L!!!!
I loved eating this dip on bagel chips.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Place sour cream in a mixing bowl. Add Ranch dressing mix, bacon and cheddar cheese. You can add the Ranch Dip Mix here and stir to combine. I ended up just mixing all the ingredients together at once.
Stir ingredients to combine. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
To serve: Spoon Ranch Bacon and Cheddar Dip into a large serving bowl. Garnish with snipped chives and additional cheese and bacon pieces, if desired. Serve with assorted crackers, bagel or sun chips or veggie dippers.
This dip is so amazing. The essence of Ranch Dips Mix permeates the sour cream giving this dip such a splendid flavor. Oh, yum!
Wow your company with this easy, four-ingredient recipe sometime soon!
If you enjoy bacon and cheddar cheese, you’ll love the combination in this amazing appetizer.
Ranch Bacon and Cheddar Dip will knock your socks off.
