Chocolate Chip Ooey Gooey Bars
Chocolate Chip Ooey Gooey Bars are a great option for Christmas Cookie Exchanges and holiday parties. These brownies have it all–chocolate (enuf said!), a cream cheese filling that is not cooked until it’s dry, but instead is left ooey and gooey in the centers. Plus, the crust starts with a cake mix so it’s incredibly easy as well as tasty.

Ok, any of you who follow my blog know how much I love cookies, brownies and bars. I have over 250 of them posted on this blog! I make them frequently for gifts to give to others. Many times when I make meals for friends, I make cookies for dessert. That’s because most kids will eat cookies over cake or pies. Plus, cookies are usually a lot easier to pack up and take along to any potluck or food fest.
I was talking to the front office staff for our new home builder a couple of weeks ago and one of the guys informed me that I could feel free to bring more cookies to their office any time. 🙂 I’d dropped off goodies on a couple of occasions before. So when I knew we were going to stop by their office, I looked in my pantry to see what I could whip up quickly.
I had been wanting to make this version of Ooey Gooey Bars for a couple of years, since my M&M, Blueberry, Peach, Red Velvet and Peppermint versions all turned out quite well. This is one of those easy recipes with very few ingredients involved. I usually keep all the ingredients stocked in my pantry or refrigerator on a regular basis, so it was no problem whipping it up very quickly.
If you’re looking for a scrumptious brownie or bar-type cookie for your holiday baking, then make Chocolate Chip Ooey Gooey Bars a high priority. Everyone is sure to love them. We did.
Chocolate Chip Ooey Gooey Bars are so gooey and delicious you won’t be able stop eating them!
Every bite will have you drooling.
Chocolate and cream cheese work incredibly well together in this recipe.
Here’s what I did.
I used these 6 ingredients.
Melt butter. Add cake mix and one egg. Stir well to combine.
Grease a 9×13″ glass baking dish. Press cake mix mixture into prepared baking dish.
Soften cream cheese. Add powdered sugar and remaining two eggs. Mix with an electric mixer until smooth.
Pour cream cheese mixture over crust layer.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
Bake at 325 for about 35-45 minutes. Do not overbake or the mixture won’t be moist in the center.
Allow bars to cool completely before sprinkling with powdered sugar.
Cut into bars to serve.
Chocolate Chip Ooey Gooey Bars are great for holiday parties.
Here’s the recipe.
