Dairy Free Garlic Herb Bread
Dairy Free Garlic Herb Bread is so mouthwatering. It’s a delicious homemade bread made in the breadmaker. It’s quick and easy, but you’d never know it by the taste. The nice thing about this bread is it’s dairy free for those with lactose intolerance. Most of my homemade breadmaker recipes all use dried milk powder. Some even use buttermilk. This one uses olive oil instead of butter and there’s no milk of any kind in it. It’s perfect as a dipping bread with olive oil and herbs.

I love a good loaf of homemade bread. I know my mom spoiled us rotten with all her bread baking during our growing up years. Mom baked 15-20 loaves of homemade bread every week for our family. And yes, we ate all of it! She would use it for sandwiches for lunch at school. She also toasted/broiled some every night for us for dinner. We always ate it with butter and homemade jam.
Seriously, I could eat homemade bread with butter, peanut butter, jams or jellies, or simply plain every meal of the day and be totally contented. There’s something so much more satisfying with the texture of the bread versus store bought bread that’s mass produced. Granted, hand-kneading is even better than the bread machine, but for those of us who want quick and easy this is it.
My breadmaker makes a two-pound loaf. But this recipe is for about 1 1/2 pounds. So if your breadmaker is smaller it will fit with this recipe. I thought this bread turned out nice and fluffy and the seasonings made it heavenly. I used minced dried garlic, marjoram, thyme, basil and parsley for the herbs. The combination of flavors developed a delicate Italian-style taste that was awesome.
Back in April, we had several families in our church either have babies or gain custody of newborns. I was taking meals to families about every two to three days! The family I took this meal to has a teenage daughter who’s dairy intolerant. She can’t have any milk, cheese or butter. So I needed to come up with a meal that she could enjoy. I started off with my Slow Cooker Onion-Mushroom Pot Roast recipe (minus the mushrooms). Then I added a Strawberry Rhubarb Dump Cake Cobbler that used oil instead of butter. I also included a loaf of this delicious Dairy Free Garlic Herb Bread. It was a satisfying meal that all could enjoy.
This amazing bread can be served for breakfast (especially if you want to layer it with fried eggs, avocados or sweet potato hash). But my preferred method of enjoying it is for dinner with olive oil and herbs to dip it in. 🙂 If you can eat butter (just not milk or cheese), then it’s terrific with butter slathered over each slice. But no matter which way you serve it, just serve it!
Dairy Free Garlic Herb Bread is awesome.
I enjoyed this bread soaked in dipping oil. 🙂
Every bite of Dairy Free Garlic Herb Bread is wonderful.
This bread is so easy to make. It only takes 5 minutes prep work and the breadmaker does all the work!
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients plus water.
Pour hot water into bread canister. Add olive oil, sugar, salt, bread flour, dried minced garlic, marjoram, basil, thyme and parsley. Sprinkle yeast evenly over top.
Bake on regular white bread setting for about 3 hours.
Brush bread with olive oil to prevent hardening of crust. Allow to sit out about 30 minutes before cutting.
I use an electric bread knife to get nice even slices that aren’t crumbly.
If you can eat butter, this bread is terrific with butter.
This is the perfect bread for any company dinner.
If you enjoy homemade bread, Dairy Free Garlic Herb Bread is delightful.
