Paradise Fruit Company sent me a big batch of assorted candied fruits to use up in recipes. I had a lot of fun coming up with recipes to use the many different selections they sent. I decided to use the candied orange peel in these delicious cookies. I used a regular Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe but tweaked it by using the candied orange peel and vanilla chips instead of chocolate chips. They turned out amazing.
I made over 4,000 cookies this year, plus cakes, pie, muffins, sweet breads and sweet rolls. I baked everything the month of October and the first week of November. Whew….it was exhausting. I’m so glad I can now enjoy the holiday season without having to do any more baking. (I know, I’ll be staying out of the kitchen, right?) Yes, I’ll be making stuff for Thanksgiving, but casseroles have always been my favorite thing to make. Besides all those side dishes have been made so many times before I don’t even have to use a recipe (nor take pictures)!
Candied Orange Cookies are delightful for this year’s holiday baking. Take them to office parties, Christmas Cookie Exchanges, or serve them for Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s Day gatherings. Don’t plan on bringing any cookies home though. Anyone with a sweet tooth will devour these fabulous cookies.
Candied Orange Cookies are so very good.
These are wonderful for a Christmas Cookie Exchange.
These drool-worthy cookies are loaded with orange and vanilla flavor.
Candied Orange Cookies are festive and beautiful enough for any holiday or office party.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Soften butter. Add sugar, vanilla, egg, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Mix with an electric mixer until smooth.
Add UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour. Bleached flour toughens baked goods. Add vanilla chips and candied orange peel.
Stir well with a wooden spoon to combine.
Roll cookie dough into balls and place on greased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 12 minutes or until done. My cookies took 15 minutes to bake. Rotate cookie sheets on racks every six minutes of baking time.
I could have gobbled down dozens of these amazing cookies.
Candied Orange Cookies will cure any sweet tooth craving.
Candied Orange Peel makes these cookies pop in flavor.
Candied Orange Cookies are soft and chewy in texture. These cookies are not crunchy, crispy or tough.
Here’s the recipe.
