I am constantly on the look-out for sweet treats to bake up for our Sunday morning Hostess Committee at church. While my husband and I serve a specific Sunday every month, there’s always folks out on vacation and can’t make their shift so we fill in a lot. I bring everything from cinnamon rolls to muffins and sometimes brownies! While the staff usually bring bagels and cream cheese, there are those who enjoy something sweet as well.
I made Peachy Pear Muffins back in early June. Peaches were in season and I just love making desserts and goodies with peaches, so I decided to try some with both peaches and pears. I loved how these turned out. As I stated earlier, this batch makes a lot. It makes either 3 dozen regular-sized muffins or 6 dozen miniature muffins (which is what I made). I brought about two dozen of them to church and gave away many little containers for our neighbors.
The rest went into the freezer for John to pull out when the wants a snack. He is so good about eating only small amounts at a time. Whereas I want to eat it ALL with a shovel. 🙁 Anyway, these lovely muffins are terrific for a weekend or holiday breakfast. If fresh peaches are out of season, substitute canned or frozen peaches instead. Either way, you’ll enjoy every bite. 🙂
Peachy Pear Muffins are a wonderful sweet treat for breakfast or snacks throughout the day!
These lovely muffins include both peaches and pears.
If you need a recipe for a potluck, this is a great one since it makes 6 dozen miniature muffins or 3 dozen regular-sized muffins.
Every bite is delightful!
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Place unbleached all-purpose flour in a mixing bowl. (Bleached flour toughens baked goods). Add granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
Stir ingredients to combine; set aside.
In a separate mixing bowl, melt butter. Add eggs and half-and-half cream.
Whisk ingredients to combine.
Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients.
Add diced pears, peaches and chopped walnuts.
Stir ingredients just until moistened. Do not overmix the batter.
Spray six dozen miniature muffin tins with cooking spray. Spoon batter into tins about 3/4 full.
Bake at 400 degrees about 8-10 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. (See note below in recipe card).
Cool in pans about 5 minutes before removing to wire cooling racks to cool completely.
Peachy Pear Muffins make delectable treats for a holiday or company breakfast.
You’ll enjoy every bite-full!
