Nutty Apple Streusel Dessert
Nutty Apple Streusel Dessert is one of those scrumptious old-world vintage desserts that you will love. This is a layered dessert with the bottom layer consisting of apple slices (mixed with cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg). On top of that is a Bisquick layer that’s sort of like a syrup. Finally the streusel topping layer includes Bisquick and sliced almonds. This turned out to be a fantastic dessert that everyone enjoyed.

Any of you who follow my blog regularly, know how much I enjoy trying out new recipes. I gave this one a try back in May for a family in our church who had recently had a baby. I made them Pork Chop Supper, Homemade Bread and a Fresh Corn and Tomato Salad along with this dessert. While the dessert does have several steps, it really is not all that difficult to prepare. Add some ice cream and it’s a delightful dessert for any occasion.
Nutty Apple Streusel Dessert is a fruity apple dessert that cooks up almost like a cobbler. It does use almonds, but most people do not seem to be bothered by almonds as much as walnuts or pecans. The original recipe is made in the crockpot, but I didn’t have time to cook it that long so I baked it in the oven instead.
Whether you’re in the mood for a fall baking recipe or not, this lovely dessert will surely please everyone who has a sweet tooth.

Nutty Apple Streusel Dessert is sure good with a dollop of ice cream on top!

This old-world vintage recipe is wonderful.

Almonds add a nice nutty, crunch to the dessert.

This dessert can also be made in the slow cooker!
Here’s what I did.

Peel and slice apples and place in a large mixing bowl.

Add cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg.

Stir really well so the apples get good coverage.

Place apples in a greased 9×13″ glass baking dish.

In a separate mixing bowl, place Bisquick, butter, eggs, half-and-half, and granulated sugar.

Add vanilla.

Whisk ingredients well to combine.

Pour the egg/Bisquick mixture over top of the apples in the baking dish.

This will fill up the baking dish about half way.

I used these ingredients for the topping.

Combine Bisquick and brown sugar in another mixing bowl.

Stir well.

Add butter and work it in with a pastry blender.

Coarse crumbs will form from working the butter into the Bisquick mixture.

Add almonds.

Stir well to combine.

Spoon the streusel topping evenly over top of the apples.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes, or cook on low heat of crockpot for 6-7 hours, until apples are tender.

Serve Nutty Apple Streusel Dessert in a bowl with ice cream, if desired.

This is a great dessert for fall baking.

Nutty Apple Streusel Dessert is like an Apple Cobbler or Apple Crisp.

Cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg provide the perfect spices for the apples.
