For those of you looking for healthy and gluten free, sorry, but this recipe doesn’t qualify! It is a wonderful cookie though, great for holiday baking or Valentine’s Day–sure to tempt your sweetheart! I’ve been wanting to use up some Hershey’s Kisses we purchased during the holidays and thought I would try my hand at pressing them into a Red Velvet cookie dough.
I happened to look on the cake mix box and decided to look at the Duncan Hines website. This cookie is inspired from their Peanut Blossoms recipe, and here they are. Fabulous, rich, delicious, and delightful!
We think this is a spectacular cookie and believe you will adore the rich, decadent, delectable taste of red velvet goodness in every bite. If you’re looking for a super easy cookie that you can whip up in no time and has fantastic flavor this amazing cookie is the one for you! And, after all, who can resist Hershey’s Kisses?
When I initially posted this recipe in January 2013, I was still using an iPhone for a camera so my pictures weren’t very sharp. I recently remade these cookies for my Christmas Cookie Extravaganza (December 2016), and retook the pictures. These cookies are still a delight for everyone who samples them.
Red Velvet Kisses are beautiful festive cookies that are great for holiday baking, birthdays, or Valentine’s Day.
Don’t Red Velvet Kisses look wonderful? You will love having a plate of these cookies with a glass of cold milk. Yummy!
These cookies are so easy to whip up and have only 6 ingredients! Each cookie is rolled in sugar and has a chocolate kiss pressed into the center before baking is finished.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Place cake mix into a mixing bowl. Add an egg, vanilla and melted butter.
Stir all the ingredients together and combine well with a wooden spoon. Refrigerate dough for an hour.
Roll dough into granulated sugar and coat well.
Place cookies on cookie sheets that have been sprayed with cooking spray. While the cookie dough is being refrigerated remove the wrappers from the Hershey’s Kisses and set aside.
Bake at 350 for about 8-10 minutes. Place kisses into the center of each cookie. Return to oven.
Bake cookies an additional 5-6 minutes. You want the chocolate kisses to start to soften but not overbake the cookie!
This is a fabulous cookie for parties, potlucks, holiday baking, or that special occasion or birthday.
Take a plate of these to your office and you won’t come home with any left! These cookies are not only beautiful in appearance but fabulous in taste.
Rich, decadent, chocolaty, lovely! This is a great way to use up extra Hershey’s Kisses you purchased for Halloween or the Christmas holidays.
Here’s the recipe.

They were extremely easy to make. I didn’t have time to wait an hour for the dough to cool in the refrigerator, so I put the cookie sheet of dough balls in the freezer for 15 minutes. I did this so the cookies would hold their shape and not spread out and flatten too much when baking. I thought they turned out wonderfully.

They absolutely did! I might make them for my 30+ friends this week. I don’t think they’ll last very long haha!
