Apple Spice Cake
Apple Spice Cake is one of those delicious down-home vintage recipes you can’t get enough of! There’s only a handful of ingredients in the cake and another handful in the icing so it’s relatively easy to make. The spicy apple and cinnamon flavors are perfect for fall baking when the leaves are changing and the air is crisp and cool!

I collected this recipe from a friend in our Sunday school class about 20 years ago. I made it a couple of times, but then forgot about it–until I was looking through all my recipes trying to find something to make for a potluck. This is such a wonderful recipe that I wanted to make it to share with everyone.
I made this recipe back in October for an Empty Nester’s potluck at our church. I also brought Honey Mustard Baked Chicken and Tomato Feta Salad. I hardly had any leftovers from any of the food that night, and only one slice of cake and a couple of half pieces left to take pictures of after the fact! Several people came up to me and told me how much they enjoyed this delectable cake.
If you’re looking for a delicious apple cake without all the work of peeling apples and a super-involved recipe, this cake is ideal. It’s marvelous for potlucks, company or family dinners or for just about any occasion. But be forewarned, it will be gone in a jiffy!

Apple Spice Cake is delightful.

It’s doubly good with ice cream on top!

You’ll be drooling over every bite!
Here’s what I did.

I used these ingredients for the cake.

Pour spice cake mix into a mixing bowl. Add eggs, walnuts, applesauce and oil. (I used avocado oil).

Stir ingredients well to combine.

Pour cake batter into a well-greased and floured Bundt pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes, until a bamboo skewer or knife inserted in center comes out clean.

Allow cake to cool completely in Bundt pan before inverting onto a serving plate.

I used these ingredients for the icing.

Pour powdered sugar into a mixing bowl. Add cinnamon and vanilla.

Add half-and-half cream.

Whisk ingredients well to combine.

Spoon or drizzle icing ingredients over cooled, Bundt cake. Allow icing to set about 15 minutes before cutting into slices to serve.

Slice and serve.

Apple Spice Cake is so easy to whip up for potlucks or family dinners.

Walnuts, applesauce and a boxed Spice Cake Mix make this cake “sing.”
