Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread
Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread is an awesome dinner bread. It’s also terrific as an appetizer or even for a main course entree your family will love! It’s SO EASY, too. I took two cans of refrigerated biscuits and cut each biscuit in fourths. I tossed the biscuits into a baking dish and topped them with spaghetti sauce, ham, pineapple, green pepper and mozzarella cheese and then baked it. Wow, a 6-ingredient recipe!

It turned out incredibly well. This bubble bread is light and airy, yet filling and substantial enough that you could actually make this for a quick main dish if you wanted to.
Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread turned out so wonderfully when I made it last week for company. I served it with Pepperoni Pizza Chili and it was a big hit along with my Greek Salad. By now, you probably realize I don’t mind mixing and matching all kinds of flavors with a meal.
I enjoy variety so I make meals based on a) variety, b) what I feel like eating, c) what I have on hand, d) what’s quick and easy, and e) what I think other’s will like, and not necessarily what fits together according to restaurant standards or anything else.
Garlic bread, cornbread, or a plain dinner bread probably would have been the socially acceptable prerequisites to serve with chili or Greek salad. But no, I served Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread instead! For that matter, Greek Salad doesn’t really go with chili either, but I really wanted to retake pictures and it’s such a good salad that I went with it!
I was trying to use up the leftover ingredients from the Hawaiian Pizza Cups recipe I made for the Super Bowl so I decided to make my leftover ingredients into a bubble bread instead. Years ago, when John and I first married we went to Sanibel Island in Florida for our honeymoon and several vacations those first few years after we married.
There was a restaurant on Captiva Island (right next to Sanibel Island) that used to serve Bubble Bread, much like many restaurants today serve dinner bread or tortilla chips. Their bread was legendary. We never ended up going to that restaurant because back in those days we could not afford $25 to $30 per person per meal. In today’s economy, according to some sources, that would translate to about $200 per meal per person! Still a little excessive.
Anyway, we suggested Sanibel Island to our neighbors as a place to go for a vacation and to try out the restaurant that served the delicious Bubble Bread. My neighbors went to the restaurant and loved it and Debbie even asked them for the recipe.
If I recall correctly, they took chunks of bread dough, added spaghetti sauce and cheese and it was sensational. The idea for this bread is based on that restaurant’s famous Bubble Bread.
If you’re looking for a sensational dinner bread that will steal the show, then Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread will certainly do that. While it’s light and fluffy, it’s almost like eating Hawaiian flavored pizza. If you’re looking for a healthier version, I’m sure you could mix up a batch of your own bread dough and use that instead.
Just pinch off globs of bread dough, or even frozen bread dough and you’ll be good to go. Again, this recipe is not an exact science. I give you the measurements I used, but you can use more or less depending on your own particular tastes.
Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread will have you drooling – whether you serve it as a bread, a pizza-type meal, or as an appetizer. Enjoy.
Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread has tremendous texture as well as taste.
The ham and pineapple add such amazing flavors to this tasty bread. Every mouthful of Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread is succulent and mouthwatering!
Our company loved the lightness and fluffiness to this recipe. It was fantastic with my Best Ever Greek Salad and Pepperoni Pizza Chili. 🙂
Here’s what I did.
These are the ingredients I used for this recipe.
Cut biscuits in fourths. Each can has 10 biscuits, yielding 80 pieces. Spray an 8×12″ glass baking dish with cooking spray. Place biscuit pieces in prepared dish.
Spoon spaghetti sauce over top of biscuits. Then sprinkle ham chunks, pineapple chunks and finely diced green pepper over top of the sauce.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over top. Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes until biscuit dough is cooked through and cheese is melted. Do not overcook so that the cheese turns brown. If necessary, cover with foil while baking to prevent over-browning.
Here’s what the Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread looks like just out of the oven. This bread was spectacular. I had several pieces!
I served it by cutting pieces with a spatula.
Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread is great as a side, but it’s also filling enough to serve as a main dish!
Each bite is filled with what you love from pizza – spaghetti sauce and lots of cheese, but with wonderful Hawaiian-style toppings. Yum.
Hawaiian Pizza Bubble Bread is marvelous for tailgating or Super Bowl parties. Everyone enjoys a hunk of pizza!

Do you have the nutrition values. My husband had a heart attack last week and now we have to watch salt among everything else. Do you know of any good sites to see. If I knew how to put out a notice on this subject I would. Everything we make tastes awful to him.
Thank you,
Dottie

I’m sorry, Dottie, I don’t have nutrition values. But unless you purchased a low sodium spaghetti sauce and low sodium ham, I would bet this recipe would not be one he could normally eat. I do have a ton of sheet pan chicken dinners and one dish chicken dinners, however. Most of them would probably be a lot healthier and have less sodium. They also taste great.
