Sausage Pepperoni Pizza Cups
Sausage Pepperoni Pizza Cups are another fan favorite! We served these delicious appetizers for our Super Bowl party a few weeks ago. Anything to do with pizza is always well received! These mini pizzas are so easy to make. I use the small refrigerated buttermilk biscuits, spaghetti sauce (any flavor will work), fried sausage, mini pepperonis, and mozzarella cheese. That’s it! It’s a 5-ingredient recipe to die for! Seriously, these little miniature pizzas rock.

Pizza is probably one of my favorite foods even though it is high in calories and not particularly good for me. Every now and then I allow myself the indulgence of pizza. On special occasions or for parties we’ll make these tasty treats. They’re quick and easy to make and cook very quickly. Because they’re a finger food, they’re a lot more practical than regular table fare. Sausage Pepperoni Pizza Cups are certainly a lot easier to eat than a thick slab of pizza that’s loaded down with toppings. (Although I sure enjoy both!) 🙂
I’ve built this recipe off an old favorite I’ve been using since the late 70s or early 80s called Cheesy Pizza Treats. I’ve also made Hawaiian Pizza Cups and Double Pepperoni Mini Pizzas with the same basic recipe. Beef Barbecups are similar though made slightly differently. All of them have turned out sensationally. They really make fabulous appetizers and they are very hearty snack food that’s much more filling than chips and dip.
These are quick, easy, and scrumptious appetizers for tailgating parties and potlucks. They’re also super easy to fix on a night where you’re too exhausted to cook a large meal. Consider trying out Sausage Pepperoni Pizza Cups the next time you need to make an appetizer. You don’t have to go to all the bother of making up a crust either. You just pop biscuits into muffin tins for an incredibly fast crust, then add toppings and bake.
Kids and dads especially love these meaty pizza appetizers. These are great to eat anytime you have company or are watching some kind of ball game on television. They’re also great to take to holiday parties where everyone is bringing some kind of finger food. These are usually snapped up first! I hope you enjoy them as much as our family does.
I initially posted this recipe in February 2014. We made them for a Super Bowl party and everyone loved them. My pictures were less than pleasing however. I recently remade this recipe (October 2019) for our church’s college group one Sunday night. They were the hit of the night! All the kids (young adults) went back for more. Since I made about 50 of these treats, the few leftovers were snapped up quickly to take home.
I cannot recommend these miniature pizzas enough for New Year’s Day (or eve) parties, Super Bowl or tailgating parties or anytime you’re having friends over to your house. They are irresistibly good. Even if you make 50, you’ll probably have an empty plate leftover like me!
Sausage Pepperoni Pizza Cups are sensational appetizers you’re family will love!
These scrumptious miniature pizzas are wonderful for holiday parties or New Year’s Day.
Sausage Pepperoni Pizza Cups are great for tailgating parties. We served these scrumptious treats for our Super Bowl party earlier in the year.
If you enjoy pizza, these Sausage Pepperoni Pizza Cups can’t be beat!
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Fry sausage and drain. I use a hamburger masher to make sure the pieces are very small.
You probably won’t need more than about 1/3 to 1/2 pound of pork sausage for a single batch. If you want a zippier taste, then use spicy hot sausage instead of mild.
Roll out each biscuit on the back of a plate to stretch it out a little. That will make it easier to stretch into the muffin tins.
Spray muffin tins with cooking spray. Fit biscuit dough into each muffin tin.
Place about one heaping tablespoon of spaghetti sauce into each biscuit.
Crumble the sausage into tiny pieces and place over top of the spaghetti sauce to cover well.
Place about 5-6 pieces of mini pepperoni over the sausage in each muffin cup.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over top. Try to keep the cheese inside the tin as it makes these pizza cups easier to get out of the pan if the cheese is not sticking everywhere.
Bake at 400 for about 15-20 minutes. Don’t overbake! Bake just until the biscuit is cooked through. You don’t want browned cheese.
Allow pizza cups to cool a few minutes. Then use a knife to gently remove pizza cups to a serving platter.
Sausage Pepperoni Pizza Cups are very hearty and satisfying. A few of these will fill you up in no time!
