Creamy Sweet Peas are utterly delightful. This is a terrific side dish for week night dinners when you're pressed for time since the dish can be whipped up in about 10 minutes. It also makes for a wonderful side for company or holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas. This gluten free recipe is a marvelous and delicious way to introduce your kids to peas!

Equipment

  • 1 Dutch oven with lid
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 table knife to cube cream cheese
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • 1 whisk

Ingredients
  

  • 36 oz. frozen peas thawed
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp. granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 4 oz. block cream cheese cut in cubes
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan, melt butter and cream cheese; use a whisk and stir frequently.
  • Add the peas, granulated sugar, salt and pepper.
  • Stir frequently with a wooden spoon so all the ingredients blend well together.
  • Cook over low heat until peas are hot.
  • This will take 5-10 minutes.
  • Add the whipping cream and stir thoroughly.

Notes

NOTE: I have used either half-and-half or heavy whipping cream. Although my personal preference is heavy whipping cream.
