Sprinkle Cookies are absolutely amazing. The cookies start with the best Sugar Cookie dough imaginable. Then they're filled with sprinkles and rolled in sprinkles. The cookies puff up beautifully while baking and are so scrumptious you won't be able to stop eating them! These kid-friendly cookies are terrific cookies to make for every season and holiday throughout the year. Just swap out the color of sprinkles for the appropriate holiday. Watch them disappear.
1cuprainbow sprinkles(avoid the dark blues & purples)
2cupsrainbow sprinklesto roll the cookies in
Instructions
Mix butter, oil, sugars, extracts, eggs salt, cream of tartar and baking soda with an electric mixer until very well combined.
Add flour and one cup sprinkles and stir into sugar mixture until ingredients are thoroughly mixed; this may take 4-5 minutes.
Chill dough at least one hour.
Roll cookie dough into balls.
Roll balls in additional rainbow sprinkles to cover well.
Place on greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350° for 12-14 minutes or until cookies are done. (See note below).
Rotate cookie sheets on oven racks every eight minutes of baking time.
Cool completely.
Notes
NOTE: I used 2-3 cups sprinkles to roll the cookies in.NOTE: I used about 1 ½ tablespoonfuls of cookie dough for each cookie.NOTE: Rotate racks every 8 minutes of baking time. My cookies took about 22-24 minutes to bake completely.NOTE: You can use the darker color sprinkles to roll the cookie dough balls in. But if you use them in the regular cookie dough, they will discolor the dough and turn it brown.NOTE: For Holiday Sprinkle Cookies, use the colors for the season. Use pink, blue, green & yellow for Easter, red, white & blue for Fourth of July, orange & yellow for Halloween, red, green & white for Christmas, etc.
