These fantastic brownies are filled with chocolate and sprinkles and are topped with a fudgy chocolate icing. These kid-friendly brownies are perfect for tailgating or office parties, potlucks or summer holiday fun.

  • 1 9x13" glass baking dish
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 sauce pan
  • 1 whisk
  • measuring cups

Ingredients
  

BROWNIES:

  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter melted (2 1/2 sticks)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour (Bleached flour toughens baked goods)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup pecans (or walnuts) chopped (measure after chopping)
  • 1 cup sprinkles

FUDGE ICING:

  • 3 tbsp. unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tbsp. cocoa
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp. 2% milk
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup sprinkles as needed

Instructions
 

BROWNIES:

  • Melt 2 ½ sticks butter (1 1/4 cups).
  • Add cocoa, eggs and granulated sugar and mix with an electric mixer or whisk.
  • Stir in flour, sprinkles and nuts.
  • Grease and flour a 9x13" baking dish.
  • Bake at 350° for 45-55 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Allow brownies to cool about 30 minutes before adding icing.

FUDGE ICING:

  • Cook butter and cocoa for 1-2 minutes on medium heat.
  • Remove from burner.
  • Add powdered sugar and milk and whisk to combine.
  • Then add a dash of salt and vanilla.
  • Spread fudge icing over brownies working quickly so frosting stays smooth.
  • Sprinkle evenly with sprinkles.
  • Allow brownies to set up before cutting into bars.

Notes

NOTE: My brownies took about 45-50 minutes to bake completely, but some ovens may bake this recipe more quickly.
