Ham and Cheese Croissant

This amazing Ham and Cheese Croissant is filled with ham, Swiss cheese, spinach and tomatoes. It's cheesy and gooey and rolled up in crescent rolls making it super easy and delicious. It's terrific for holiday breakfasts like Easter, Mother's Day or Father's Day.

Equipment

  • 1 large cookie sheet pan
  • 1 sharp knife to dice ham and part of the cheese
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • 1 pastry brush

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cans crescent rolls
  • 16 oz. sliced ham (I used 2 cups leftover ham from a spiral cut ham)
  • 10 oz. bag spinach thawed, chopped (Be sure to squeeze out as much of the water as possible!)
  • 8 oz. pkg. Swiss cheese sliced (leave out 5 slices for the top)
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup Hellmann's mayonnaise
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 tsp. Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 roma tomatoes sliced
  • 1 egg white (discard egg yolk)

Instructions
 

  • Dice ham and all but five slices of the cheese very fine.
  • Put mixture into a large bowl.
  • Add chopped onions, spinach, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix well.
  • Unroll crescent rolls and overlap to form a circle with long narrow part of the crescent away from the middle.
  • (It's shaped like a sunflower).
  • Arrange meat mixture in the center.
  • Layer cheese slices on top.
  • Place tomato slices on top of cheese slices.
  • Pull crescent dough over and tuck inside the croissant.
  • Seal edges well.
  • Brush with egg white wash.
  • Bake approximately 45 minutes or until golden brown at 350°.

Notes

NOTE: You must squeeze as much water out of the spinach before using or the croissant will be soupy.
