BLT Avocado Salad | Can't Stay Out of the Kitchen | we loved this delicious #bacon, lettuce & #tomato #salad with #avocados. So filling and satisfying. I made it healthier by using uncured, nitrate-free bacon & homemade #glutenfree croutons.

BLT Avocado Salad

This fabulous salad starts with the traditional bacon, lettuce and tomatoes, but adds avocados, shaved parmesan cheese, red onion and homemade gluten free croutons. It's wonderful served with a creamy Caesar dressing.

Equipment

  • 1 large salad bowl with tongs
  • 1 sharp knife to cut vegetables
  • 1 large skillet to fry bacon
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons

Ingredients
  

  • 18 oz. bag Romaine lettuce (or your favorite kind of lettuce) three 6-ounce bags
  • 10 oz. container grape tomatoes halved lengthwise
  • 3 avocados pitted, peeled and sliced
  • 1/3 cup red onion diced
  • 10 oz. pkg. uncured nitrate free bacon cooked and broken into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese shaved
  • 2 cups Homemade Gluten Free Croutons or your favorite croutons
  • 1 1/2 cups Caesar dressing or Creamy Parmesan Dressing of your choice

Instructions
 

  • Cook bacon in large skillet over medium heat and set aside.
  • Be careful not to scorch the bacon by cooking too long or at too high of a temperature.
  • Layer salad, tomatoes, avocados, onion and parmesan cheese in salad bowl.
  • Add cooked bacon pieces.
  • Toss with Creamy Parmesan Dressing or Caesar dressing before serving.
  • Garnish with homemade croutons.

Notes

NOTE: While I used only 10-ounces of bacon, I think 16-ounces would be better!
 
NOTE: You can use regular croutons in this recipe if you don't need to keep it gluten free.
