Chocolate Chip Ooey Gooey Bars are sensational! These irresistible blondies have a cake mix crust, a lovely, gooey cream cheese layer and topped with chocolate chips and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Great for holiday baking and parties.

Equipment

  • 1 9x13" glass baking dish
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • 1 spatula

Ingredients
  

  • 1 box classic yellow cake mix or Golden Recipe-Butter Flavor
  • 1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup) melted
  • 3 large eggs divided use
  • 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese softened
  • 1 lb. box powdered sugar (or 3 1/2 cups)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Mix together cake mix, butter and one egg and put in bottom of greased 9 x 13” pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix two eggs, cream cheese and one-pound box of powdered sugar together with an electric mixer.
  • Beat until smooth and pour over crust mixture.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips over top.
  • Bake at 325° for about 35-45 minutes.

Notes

NOTE: Ovens vary. Start checking temperature after 30 minutes. You want the middle of the cake to be a little gooey in the center.
