Chocolate Chip Cake will have you swooning from the first bite! This scrumptious triple chocolate cake has triple the chocolaty flavor! It uses chocolate cake mix, chocolate pudding mix and chocolate chips. Then it's drizzled with a luscious, chocolaty frosting on top. Oh my! This favorite Chocolate Cake recipe is sensational served with either ice cream or whipped topping and maraschino cherries.

Equipment

  • 1 10-inch Bundt cake pan
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 medium mixing bowl
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons
  • 1 whisk

Ingredients
  

CAKE:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 2 small boxes instant chocolate pudding mix or one large box
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups water or you can use half-and-half or whole milk
  • 1/2 cup canola oil or either coconut oil or avocado oil
  • 12 oz. bag chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp. Powdered sugar for garnish (if you prefer this topping over a chocolate icing)

CHOCOLATE ICING:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp. unsalted butter softened
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tsp. water
  • 2 heaping tablespoonfuls cocoa

Instructions
 

CAKE:

  • Mix everything together in large bowl.
  • Pour into greased and floured bundt pan and bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes at 350°, or until knife or a bamboo skewer inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Allow cake to cool completely before inverting onto plate.

CHOCOLATE ICING:

  • Whisk ingredients with a whisk.
  • Add only as much water as needed to get ingredients to spreading consistency.
  • Drizzle Chocolate Icing over cooled cake.
  • Allow icing to set about 15-30 minutes before covering with plastic wrap.

Notes

NOTE: I substitute whole milk or half-and-half for the water in the recipe for a richer cake texture.
