An American classic, Snickerdoodles are a wonderful Sugar Cookie with a cinnamon-sugar coating on the outside. These cookies are delectable! Perfect for potlucks, tailgating or office parties, watching soccer practice or backyard barbecues.
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt, beating well.
Add flour and stir with a wooden spoon until well combined.
Roll into golfball-size balls then roll the ball in a mixture of cinnamon sugar.
Bake 2” apart in a 350° oven for 10-12 minutes.
Rotate cookie sheets on oven racks half way through baking time.
Cool completely.
CINNAMON-SUGAR MIXTURE:
Stir to combine.
Roll cookies in cinnamon-sugar mixture before baking.
Notes
NOTE: The original recipe called for 2 tbsp. sugar and 2 tbsp. cinnamon for the cinnamon sugar mixture. This is usually not enough to roll the cookies in. I usually use ½ cup sugar with 2 tbsp. cinnamon.
