Cherry Crumble
Teresa Ambra
This delectable Cherry Crumble uses only 5 ingredients. It's a cross between a Cherry Crisp and a Cherry Cobbler. It's a mouthwatering dessert that will cure any sweet tooth craving. We find it exceptionally delicious comfort food for family and friends. It's the perfect dessert for hot summer days when fresh cherries are in season. It's especially tasty for the Fourth of July.

4 to 5 cups fresh cherries pitted and halved (you can also substitute canned cherries if rinsed and patted dry) 3/4 cup granulated sugar 2 to 4 tbsp. water (I used 2 tablespoons) 1 cup brown sugar packed 1 cup UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour (bleached flour toughens baked goods) 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold (1 stick)
Combine cherries with granulated sugar and water in a small mixing bowl.
Spread into a greased 8x12” glass baking dish.
In a separate mixing bowl, combine brown sugar and flour.
Cut butter into flour mixture with finger tips or pastry blender until it crumbles.
Pour crumble mixture over top of cherries.
Bake at 300 degrees for about an hour or until cherries are done.
NOTE: If using canned cherries be sure they are rinsed, drained and patted very dry before using in the recipe.
