2 lbs. fresh asparagus washed and trimmed (at least 2-3 inches off the bottom of the stalks) 1 tbsp. water or more if desired 1 tsp. garlic finely minced 2 tbsp. salted butter melted 2 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese divided use 1/8 tsp. sea salt optional 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper or to taste
Melt butter in a measuring cup.
Add water, garlic, 1 tbsp. parmesan cheese, and salt and pepper, if using.
Stir well to combine.
Grill asparagus on gas grill over medium heat about 5-6 minutes, turning once.
While grilling, brush with butter mixture several times.
Once asparagus is turned, brush that side with butter mixture as well.
Remove asparagus to serving platter.
If there is any remaining butter mixture, baste asparagus with butter mixture.
Sprinkle with remaining tablespoon of Parmesan cheese.
Serve immediately.
NOTE: Try to purchase asparagus that’s newer and has thinner stalks rather than thicker stalks. Otherwise the asparagus will be tough and stringy.
