Equipment

  • 1 gas grill or electric or charcoal grill
  • 1 sharp knife to trim asparagus and finely dice garlic
  • 1 colander
  • 1 cutting board
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. fresh asparagus washed and trimmed (at least 2-3 inches off the bottom of the stalks)
  • 1 tbsp. water or more if desired
  • 1 tsp. garlic finely minced
  • 2 tbsp. salted butter melted
  • 2 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese divided use
  • 1/8 tsp. sea salt optional
  • 1/8 tsp. ground black pepper or to taste

Instructions

  • Melt butter in a measuring cup.
  • Add water, garlic, 1 tbsp. parmesan cheese, and salt and pepper, if using.
  • Stir well to combine.
  • Grill asparagus on gas grill over medium heat about 5-6 minutes, turning once.
  • While grilling, brush with butter mixture several times.
  • Once asparagus is turned, brush that side with butter mixture as well.
  • Remove asparagus to serving platter.
  • If there is any remaining butter mixture, baste asparagus with butter mixture.
  • Sprinkle with remaining tablespoon of Parmesan cheese.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

NOTE: Try to purchase asparagus that’s newer and has thinner stalks rather than thicker stalks. Otherwise the asparagus will be tough and stringy.
