Chocolate Chess Pie

Teresa Ambra
Chocolate Chess Pie is irresistible. This lovely, chocolaty, fudgy pie will have you drooling from the first spoonful. It's thick, rich, decadent and so heavenly. This is a terrific dessert for company, holidays or special occasions. But it's also wonderful to make any time you want a dose of chocolate. But beware: Chocolate Chess Pie is addictive. :)

Equipment

  • 1 9-inch pie plate
  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • measuring cups
  • measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened (1/2 stick)
  • 1 small can evaporated milk (5-oz.) (I used 6 ounces)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 unbaked pie shell

Instructions

  • Mix the first six ingredients and pour into unbaked pie shell.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes, or until set. (See note below).
  • Serve with whipped cream or Cool Whip.

Notes

NOTE: I was baking two pies at once. The pies took 1 hour 10 minutes to bake completely.

NOTE: I also used 6-ounces of evaporated milk. That may be why my pies took longer.
