Chocolate Sprinkle Cookies

Teresa Ambra
Chocolate Sprinkle Cookies will have you drooling from the first bite. These cookies combine the best from Sugar Cookies and the best of Chocolate Chip Cookies. They are rich, decadent, melt-in-your-mouth cookies that are absolutely heavenly. But be warned! These cookies are addictive. It's hard to stop after just one. Terrific for tailgating parties, potlucks, holiday baking or backyard barbecues.

  • measuring spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup canola oil or use coconut oil or avocado oil
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 5 cups UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour (bleached flour toughens baked goods)
  • 1/2 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1 cup chocolate sprinkles
  • 2 cups chocolate sprinkles to roll the cookies in

Instructions

  • Mix butter, oil, sugars, extracts, eggs, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda with an electric mixer until very well combined.
  • This will probably take 2-3 minutes.
  • Add flour and one cup chocolate sprinkles and stir into sugar mixture until ingredients are thoroughly mixed; this may take 4-5 minutes.
  • Chill dough at least one hour.
  • Roll cookie dough into balls.
  • Roll balls in additional chocolate sprinkles to cover well.
  • Place on greased cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 350° for 12-14 minutes or until cookies are done. (See note below).
  • Rotate cookie sheets on oven racks every 8 minutes of baking time.
  • Cool completely.

Notes

NOTE: I used two 10-5-oz. tubs of chocolate sprinkles to make these cookies.

NOTE: I used about 1 ½ tablespoonfuls of cookie dough for each cookie.

NOTE: Rotate racks every 8 minutes of baking time. My cookies took about 22-24 minutes to bake completely.
