Amazing homemade bread recipe for the breadmaker. This one includes ranch dressing mix, cheddar cheese and Greek yogurt. It's a wonderful savory dinner bread for any occasion. This recipe is for a two-pound loaf.
1 pastry brush to brush bread with butter after baking
1 electric knife preferred, or a sharp bread knife to cut bread
Ingredients
3/4cuplukewarm water
3tbsp.honeyor brown sugar
1 1/2tsp.sea salt
3tbsp.dried buttermilk
2tbsp.ranch powdered salad dressing mix
3 1/2cupsbread flourNOT all-purpose flour
2/3cupplain Greek yogurt
1largeeggbeaten
1cupsharp cheddar cheeseshredded
2 1/2tsp.active dry yeast
2tsp.vital wheat gluten
Instructions
Layer ingredients in bread canister in order given.
Select wheat bread cycle.
After baking, allow bread to rest in breadmaker 15 minutes before removing.
Brush top and sides of read with butter to prevent crust from hardening.
Allow bread to rest 15 more minutes before cutting down into slices.
Makes a two-pound loaf, or about 10 large slices.
Notes
NOTE: I found this bread did better at the longer wheat bread cycle rather than a shorter cycle.NOTE: Homemade bread has no preservatives so it needs to be refrigerated after 2 days.NOTE: all-purpose flour does not contain the necessary gluten to bond the ingredients together as well as bread flour. The bread may turn out crumbly. For best results use bread flour.NOTE: I recommend using Fleischmann's yeast or bread machine yeast in any yeast bread recipe. Red Star yeast just doesn't work as well.
