Fudge Frosted Brownies is my favorite vintage recipe for brownies. This is a rich and decadent brownie with walnuts or pecans in the batter and frosted with a scrumptious chocolate fudge icing. These scrumptious brownies are a fantastic dessert for potlucks, backyard barbecues, tailgating parties or holiday baking.

FUDGE FROSTING:
3tbsp.unsalted buttermelted
2tbsp.cocoa

1 tsp.vanilla extract

Instructions
BROWNIES:
Melt 2 ½ sticks butter in a small sauce pan.
Add cocoa, eggs and sugar and mix with an electric mixer.
Stir in flour and nuts.
Grease and flour a 9x13" baking pan.
Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Allow brownies to cool slightly.
FUDGE FROSTING:
Cook butter and cocoa for 1-2 minutes on medium heat.
Remove from burner.
Add powdered sugar and milk and whisk to combine.
Mixture will be thick.
Then add a dash of salt and vanilla.
Spread fudge icing over brownies working quickly so frosting stays smooth.
Notes
NOTE: You can also spread the frosting over the hot brownies just out of the oven.NOTE: I have had these brownies take as little as 35 minutes or as long as 50 minutes!NOTE: You can also substitute 4 squares unsweetened chocolate for the cocoa, but if you do, omit 1/4 cup melted butter.
