1 lb. unsliced round loaf sourdough bread 1 lb. monterey jack cheese sliced or shredded, or use 8-oz. Monterey Jack, and 8-oz. Pepper Jack cheese 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1/2 cup green onions chopped 3 tbsp. poppy seeds
Cut the bread lengthwise and crosswise without cutting through the bottom crust.
Insert cheese between cuts.
Combine butter, onions and poppy seeds; drizzle over bread.
Wrap in foil; place on a baking sheet.
Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
Uncover; bake 10 minutes longer or until the cheese is melted.
NOTE: While I used shredded cheese, this recipe really works better with sliced cheese pieces instead.
