Cuisine American
- 2 lbs. ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion chopped
- 2 ribs celery chopped
- 1/4 cup Chopped green pepper
- 14.5 oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar packed
- 1 tbsp. vinegar
- 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp. steak sauce (I used A-1)
- 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
- 1/4 tsp. ground mustard
- 1/4 tsp. paprika
- 3/4 tsp. chili powder
- 8-10 hamburger buns split (or use specialty hoagie rolls, onion rolls or ciabatta buns)
In a Dutch oven over medium heat, cook beef, onion, celery and green pepper until the meat is no longer pink and the vegetables are tender; drain.
Add the next ten ingredients; mix well.
Simmer, uncovered, for 35-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Spoon a ½ cup of meat mixture onto each bun.
NOTE: I added chili powder because my son wanted it spicier.
