Kiwi-Strawberry Spinach Salad

Teresa Ambra

I love Kiwi-Strawberry Spinach Salad! The combination of flavors is awesome. The spinach, strawberries, kiwis and almonds are covered in a delicious dressing. It makes for one mouthwatering and healthy salad recipe. The salad dressing includes both poppy seeds and sesame seeds along with a raspberry vinegar, green onions and other seasonings that make it really pop in taste. It’s a perfect accompaniment to this delicious salad.

I have several spinach salad recipes. All of them have a little different spin to them or different ingredients in the salad dressings. I enjoy them all because I love spinach in salad. Did I say I like Spinach Salad? 🙂

I have a Spinach Salad that includes apple, bacon and sugar-glazed walnuts, another has pomegranates and feta cheese with a maple balsamic dressing. I have a fruity one with peaches, strawberries and feta and one with strawberries and almonds. I have one with craisins and feta and one with multiple kinds of berries and pineapple. Still another with mandarin oranges and glazed almonds, and one totally without fruit that includes bacon, cheese cubes and hard-boiled eggs. Finally, I have another one with berries, kiwi and toasted pecans.

All are delectable and festive enough to serve for any company or holiday dinner. Yes, I have you covered when it comes to finding a delicious Spinach Salad recipe. This Taste of Home recipe is one of our favorites and I hope it will become one of yours, too. The flavors and texture are marvelous, the recipe is low calorie, gluten free, vegan and healthy.

I initially posted this recipe in June 2012 the first month this food blog began. I didn’t know much about cameras or positioning food back then so my pictures were awful.  I recently remade this recipe (March 2014) and took a few pictures to enable you to see the beauty of this delectable salad.

I will make one suggestion to upgrade the recipe if you’re making it. When I remade the recipe back in 2014, avocado oil was not as easy to find as it is today (April 2018). I recommend using avocado oil instead of canola oil for the dressing. It’s much healthier and you won’t have the strong aftertaste you get with olive oil. If you’re looking for a great fruity salad recipe for company, potlucks, or just family meals, then give Kiwi-Strawberry Spinach Salad a try sometime soon. It’s wonderful.

Slice about 5 or 6 kiwi fruit into 1/4″ pieces. It’s about 4 slices per kiwi. Sprinkle almonds over top.

Make up the salad dressing: these are the ingredients you will need. I substituted honey for the sugar and it turned out very well. I also recommend changing out canola oil and substituting avocado oil instead.
