Healthy Orange Balsamic Salad Dressing is wonderful. Oh, I love it when a new recipe turns out well! This lovely recipe only has 4 ingredients! Yay! I saw this the other night when I was looking through WordPress food and recipes and since it was made without sugar and without oil I knew I needed to try it as a potential dressing for salads.

I really liked it. I only made one minor change and that is using Greek yogurt instead of regular. (I also only use vanilla rather than plain Chobani Greek yogurt). I liked the thickness of the recipe and the taste that orange juice and balsamic vinegar gave this salad dressing. It has a nice smooth taste.

This really is a healthy salad dressing without all the hidden goop like high fructose corn syrup, MSG, and other additives or preservatives. I made a quadruple batch, and did not use level tablespoonfuls of yogurt. Mine would be considered a little less than heaping tablespoonfuls. It made just over 1 cup.

I think this basic recipe would be great with these options below in place of the balsamic vinegar and orange juice, and I aim to try them in the near future and see how they turn out.

1) apple cider vinegar and apple juice

2) red wine vinegar and cranberry-grape juice

3) raspberry vinegar and raspberry-cranberry-grape juice (or some combination like this)

4) balsamic vinegar with mango, pomegranate, or tropical fruit juice

5) apple cider vinegar and pineapple juice

I have been looking for sugar-free salad dressings and this one has the bonus of being without oil either. I love the idea of making salad dressings with Greek yogurt as it’s so healthy because of its probiotic properties. This is also really quick to make. You can whisk this together in about 2 or 3 minutes! If you’re looking for a tasty, healthy, low calorie dressing you need to consider this one.

When I first posted this recipe in October 2012, I was still using a cheap iPhone 3 for a camera which caused the pictures to be blurry and grainy. I recently remade this recipe (May 2015) for some friends who moved into a new house and I took them a house warming meal. I reshot the pictures, and even though it was a really gloomy day outside (Dallas has had two solid months of rain every day–extremely unusual), the pictures are still a lot better than the originals.

I have changed the recipe significantly from the first go around. This time I added freshly grated orange zest which made this dressing even more refreshing. I loved the way it turned out. Healthy Orange Balsamic Salad Dressing is a great recipe. I hope you give it a try.

I used these ingredients. You can use either plain or vanilla Greek yogurt.

Place Greek yogurt in measuring cup. Add balsamic vinegar, orange juice and honey. Whisk ingredients together until no longer lumpy. Wash orange and grate peel.

Add grated orange peel to other dressing ingredients and stir to combine.

Pour salad dressing into a cruet or other container. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
