Peachy Fruit Salad

Peachy Fruit Salad is divine. Years ago I attended a potluck at our church in DeSoto, Texas, and this luscious salad was on display. I sampled it and loved it. I tracked down the maker and the guy who made it got the recipe from his aunt who made a version of this wonderful Peachy Fruit Salad frequently.

Follow Me On Instagram!

I am so grateful for Richard Hunt and his aunt for sharing this great recipe with us. We have used it many times and we always receive a lot of compliments whenever we serve it. Richard always improvised the salad based on what he had on hand but he always included peach pie filling and canned apricots as part of the ingredients.

The ingredients for this recipe are potluck size. So unless your family is large, or you don’t mind eating this salad for a couple of meals you may want to cut down the ingredients about half. That is easy to do. Substitute smaller cans of fruit for the larger ones and decrease your fresh fruit to the amounts you desire. The pictures in this post show one batch of the recipe so let them be your guide to how much you want to make.

What makes this recipe so special is it’s made with peach pie filling. Yes, that’s right–peach pie filling! It also has a large can of peaches, pears, a couple of cans of apricots, a large can of pineapple along with fresh fruit like strawberries, grapes, and apples.

The original recipe also calls for bananas although I didn’t include them here. The sweetness from the peach pie filling permeates all the rest of the ingredients making this fruit salad recipe one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Additionally, most pie fillings are made with cornstarch as the thickener so this recipe is actually gluten free as well.

Peachy Fruit Salad is really a marvelous and satisfying fruit salad recipe. It’s also a little quicker than making a fruit salad with assorted melons because you don’t have to do quite as much cutting and prep work. If you’re looking for an elegant fruit salad for company, to take along with you for holiday dinners, or a large potluck banquet, consider taking along my recipe for Peachy Fruit Salad. You will have people coming out of the woodwork tracking you down to get the recipe for this amazing salad!

When I posted this recipe in March 2013, I was still using my iPhone for a camera and it produced grainy, blurry, dark pictures. I’ve been remaking all my first year blog recipes so I can retake the pictures with my Canon and recently found Peachy Fruit Salad on the menu! (May 2015). This is such a luscious and delightful salad. I hope you give it a try.

This batch of salad makes a lot! Probably somewhere between 12 and 15 servings. You can easily halve the recipe, though. Peachy Fruit Salad is juicy, sweet, and sumptuous.

Place a large bowl under a colander in your sink and press the juice from the chunk pineapple through the openings in the colander. The bowl will catch all the drippings. Reserve pineapple juice and place the crushed pineapple in a large mixing bowl. Don’t throw out the juice! Add drained mandarin oranges, drained diced peaches, drained diced pears, drained diced apricots and peach pie filling.

Swish apple slices in the reserved pineapple juice. This will prevent browningIf you’re going to add bananas, slice two bananas and repeat this procedure to avoid browning. Pat the excess moisture off the apples.

Plug ins are little widgets you can find that help enhance your blog. There are millions of them for WordPress and other sites. All you usually have to do is click that you want to install it, and then activate it. It’s good to look at the reviews though and make sure you’re not getting something that’s inferior. Sometimes other folks can tell you which ones they use and that can help too.

My guess is you and I chose the same RSS feed. It doesn’t work properly because it doesn’t provide you with a drop-down box where you can select how you want to read the post. Normally it will give you several options and I usually choose to subscribe through Google Reader – a free service where I can look at all the recipes from sites I want to select (kind of like the WordPress Reader) from those where I really like most of their stuff.

Jordan said it was working before he left but I know ours is not working. I’m so so sorry! You’re dealing with a real technophobe here so it may take me a bit but eventually I’ll get it figured out!

Glorious, Teresa! Thank you for sharing. P/S: Recently, each time I leave a comment I’m asked for name, email, and website, then I receive an email requiring me to confirm my subscription to your site, which I do. Not a problem, but I thought you should know in case it’s an issue with your settings. Have a great weekend.

Yeah, someone else told me the same thing. It’s on my list of glitches for Jordan to fix when he gets back from his cruise tomorrow night. I know it’s a hassle, but I really appreciate it if you can give me feedback on all these glitches. We really have no way of knowing stuff is wrong without it. Thanks so much for your help. P.S. I know my RSS feed isn’t working right either. When Jordan tells me what he did to fix mine I’ll let you know so you can fix yours! I think it’s as simple as using a different plug in, but not sure.

Thank you, Teresa. Let me know what you find out about the RSS feed. As for a plug in…I’m in the dark on that too. Oh, unsavvy me 🙂

Ok, I realized I had one of the settings checked that forced users to answer all this stuff everytime they wanted to comment. I have deselected that now so you shouldn’t have any more problems! Sorry. Still working on glitches!
