Cinnabon French Toast

Teresa Ambra

Cinnabon French Toast is amazing! Slices of Cinnabon bread have a luscious cinnamon-swirl throughout each slice. The bread is dipped in a delicious egg-custard mixture. Then it’s fried on both sides. After that, it’s topped with powdered sugar and maple syrup. This French toast recipe is marvelous!

Using Cinnabon bread makes it spectacular because it tastes like you’re eating fried cinnamon rolls! Oh, yeah! Cinnabon French Toast is a fabulous idea for special occasion breakfasts, brunches, or holiday breakfasts.

When I was a child, my Mom used to make big country breakfasts for our family every Sunday morning after we got home from early church. Most of the time Mom made bacon, fried eggs, hash brown potatoes, grits, and there was always homemade bread toasted with jelly on top.

But on special occasions Mom would make bacon or sausage with pancakes or French toast. Oh my. We would gobble pancakes or French toast down in very short order. Most of the time we ate French toast with syrup although on a few occasions we may have had homemade jellies or jams as the accompaniment. So from a very early age I’ve had an affinity for French toast!

Over the past six weeks I was teaching two cooking classes at our church for kids from first through third, and fourth through sixth grades. Each week we made something different and the final week of class I taught the kids how to make French toast. They LOVED this recipe!

Several of the kids ate more than one piece and kept begging me to make more! The Cinnabon French Toast went over so well I decided to go ahead and share it with my food blogging community. Cinnabon French Toast is really easy to make. Really, you can make Cinnabon French Toast for your whole family in about 15-20 minutes. Especially true, if you use more than one skillet or pull out your griddle.

If you’re looking for a delicious French toast recipe, and want to make a special breakfast for your family some time soon, then I heartily endorse Cinnabon French Toast. It’s wonderful. It’s kid-friendly. It’s delightful. It’s quick and easy. What a treat!

Maple syrup adds such a wonderful flavor to this French toast. It tastes so much better than corn syrup.

Place eggs in a mixing bowl. Beat with a whisk. Add milk, vanilla and cinnamon and beat until well combined. (Some of the cinnamon will end up clumping. There’s just nothing you can really do about that).

Dip Cinnabon bread slices in custard mixture. Completely submerge the bread for 10 to 15 seconds so it absorbs the custard. Carefully lift Cinnabon bread out of the custard mix. You will probably have to use two hands and take care. The bread is very fragile at this point and will tear apart easily. Shake off excess custard (carefully)!

Melt butter over medium heat in skillet or griddle. Place bread pieces in skillet (or griddle). Cook about 3-5 minutes until the custard has a nice brown coating on the bottom.
