Peach Squares

Teresa Ambra

Okay, I have a doozy of a recipe for you today–Peach Squares.  The title isn’t very fancy, but this is one of the moistest, most delectable desserts you’ll ever eat. They actually taste better the second day after the flavors have mingled for awhile. In addition to the peaches, these use Greek yogurt or sour cream to keep them moist. Walnuts add crunch and cinnamon adds zest for one snappy bar-type cookie that’s oh, so satisfying.

I’ve been going back through a lot of my apple recipes to see how I can use up my abundance of peaches. Without exception, almost any recipe where I’ve used apples, peaches can be substituted without a hitch. In fact, if you love peaches as much as I do (my favorite fruit), then you will probably like the peach versions better!

Apple Squares have always been one of our favorite recipes over the years. I found the recipe on the Internet back in the very early 90s. I was hunting for a recipe to use up apples we had picked at a nearby orchard. Our kids always loved this recipe. Peach Squares are no different–they are just as mouthwatering. This recipe does have a few different steps to it, but it’s not overly involved or difficult to make. Plus, you get the luscious taste of fresh peaches in every bite. While you can easily add an icing on top, I’ve always served these with powdered sugar sprinkled over them.

If you’re looking for a scrumptious brownie-type cookie that uses peaches, then Peach Squares is the dessert for you! Be prepared to make more than one batch! This delightful cookie will go like hot cakes!

I initially published this recipe in September 2015. I was never really happy with the pictures so I remade the recipe in June 2020. My sister-in-law was here at the time and she drooled and drooled over these jewels. Yes, these goodies are drool-worthy. Give them a try and you’ll see what all the fuss is about! 🙂
