Enjoy the lavish flavors of chocolate and cheesecake in these scrumptious brownie-type bars. Chocolate cake mix, cocoa and miniature chocolate chips provide triple the chocolaty delight in these layered bars. Wonderful choice for any tailgating party, potluck, backyard barbecue or just because you're a chocolate lover! You'll swoon over every bite.
1/2cupsalted buttersoftened, or melted and cooled (1 stick)
16oz.powdered sugar
1/4cupcocoa
TOPPING:
1cupminiature chocolate chipsif desired
Instructions
CRUST:
Preheat oven to 350°.
Spray a 9x13” glass baking dish with cooking spray.
Set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine chocolate cake mix, egg and melted butter.
Spread mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
CHEESECAKE:
In a separate medium mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter, eggs and vanilla extract with an electric mixer until smooth.
Gradually beat in the powdered sugar and cocoa until mixture is smooth and creamy.
Spread Filling over top of crust layer.
TOPPING:
Sprinkle miniature chocolate chips over top.
Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes.
Allow to cool 30 minutes in pan before refrigerating.
Refrigerate about one to two hours.
Cut into bars and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
NOTE: Refrigerate the bars about 2-3 hours before cutting into bars, as the bars are much easier to cut if refrigerated first.NOTE: I found it easier to beat the cream cheese, eggs, vanilla and cocoa. Then add the powdered sugar and melted butter together but a little at a time until all of it was worked in and the mixture was smooth and creamy.
