Easy White Bread

Very tasty basic white bread recipe for the breadmaker. This makes a 2-lb. loaf.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 4 1/4 cups Gold Medal bread flour
  • 4 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tbsp. dry milk
  • 2 tsp. Kosher salt or sea salt
  • 2 1/2 tbsp. canola oil or butter
  • 2 1/2 tsp. Fleischmann’s active dry yeast

Instructions
 

  • Layer ingredients in bread canister in order listed.
  • Set timer for basic bread cycle.
  • Mine takes approximately 4 hours.
  • Allow bread to cool about 15 minutes before removing from bread machine oven.
  • Butter top and sides to prevent crust from hardening.
  • Cool 15 more minutes before slicing bread down with a bread knife.
  • Approximately 15 slices.

Notes

NOTE: Do not use all-purpose flour for this recipe. You will need to use bread flour so the flour has enough glutens to enable to the bread to raise properly and not be dried out and crumbly afterwards which will happen with regular flour.
 
NOTE: Homemade bread has no preservatives so it needs to be refrigerated after 2 days.
NOTE: I recommend using Fleischmann's yeast or bread machine yeast in any yeast bread recipe. Red Star yeast just doesn't work as well.
