Shape sausage into real tiny meatballs and fry in skillet until done.
Set aside and drain on paper towels.
Drain grease and clean out skillet.
Melt a few tablespoonfuls butter in the cleaned skillet.
Add apple slices and cook on higher heat to brown quickly on both sides.
Simmer, and turn heat to low.
Don’t turn afterwards or they will get too soft so they break up.
Sprinkle with granulated sugar (brown sugar is nice, too, since it will caramelize).
Add more butter if necessary and turn to coat the apples so it forms a syrup and apples are well-coated.
Once the apples are fork-tender, add sausage miniature balls.
Heat through; then serve.
If saving for the next day, layer sausage in oblong pan, then apple slices (like lasagna), and warm in microwave or oven until ready to serve.
