This lovely hummus appetizer has heat from jalapeno peppers and seasoning from cilantro. Great for tailgating parties. If you enjoy hot and spicy appetizers, you'll love this one!
16oz. cangarbanzo beansdrained and mashed with a fork
2tbsp.olive oil
juice of one lemon
1tbsp.tahiniground sesame seeds
1tsp.tamari low sodium soy sauce(gluten free)
3/4 to 1tsp.salt
1bunchcilantro leavesremove from stems
1smalljalapeno pepperseeded and sliced
1tsp.minced garlic from a jaror 1-2 cloves garlic, finely minced
6tbsp.water
cilantrofor garnish
Instructions
Puree all ingredients in a blender or food processor.
Spoon into a serving bowl.
Garnish with cilantro, if desired.
Serve with fresh veggies or pita dippers.
Notes
NOTE: You may want to use gloves when handling the jalapeno pepper. Be careful not to touch your eyes before washing your hands thoroughly after handling jalapeno peppers.
