M & M Party Cookies

This festive and beautiful cookie is filled with everyone's favorite candy--M&Ms! It's a lovely cookie for holiday baking.

1 cup Crisco shortening no substitutes
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups Gold Medal UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour Bleached flour toughens baked goods
1 cup brown sugar packed
1 1/2 cups regular milk-chocolate M&Ms , divided use 3/4 lb.
2 large eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla extract

Reserve ½ cup M&Ms.
Blend shortening, sugars, vanilla, eggs, salt and baking soda in bowl.
Add flour and M&Ms.
Roll into balls and place on cookie sheets sprayed with cooking spray.
Place more M&Ms on top of dough balls and press cookies down slightly on cookie sheets.
Bake about 12 minutes at 350° or until still puffy, but not liquid-like in centers.
Remove cookies with spatula to wire racks; cool completely.

NOTE: I usually end up needing about ¾ cup M&Ms for the top of the cookies, so two 11.4-oz. bags are needed.
