Nutty Apple Streusel Dessert is a fantastic old-world vintage dessert recipe that's half streusel and half cobbler! The apples spice things up and Bisquick makes it easier to toss together. This Apple Dessert can also be made in the Slow Cooker. Top with Ice Cream and everyone will be more than satisfied!
1 9x13" glass baking dish or a slow cooker, if preferred
3 mixing bowls
1 pastry blender

Ingredients
FILLING:
6cupsapplespeeled, cored and sliced (Honey Crisp, Gala or Fuji preferred)
1 1/4tsp.ground cinnamon
1/4tsp.ground allspice
1/4tsp.ground nutmeg
3/4cuphalf-and-half
2tbsp.salted butter softened
3/4cupgranulated sugar
2largeeggs
1tsp.pure vanilla extract
1/2cupBisquick baking mix
TOPPING:
1cupBisquick baking mix
1/2cuplight brown sugarpacked
3tbsp.salted buttercold
1/2cupalmondssliced (measure after slicing)
ice cream or whipped creamoptional
Instructions
FILLING:
In a large mixing bowl, toss apples with cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg.
Stir really well so apple slices get really good coverage and both sides of slices are covered well.
Place in a greased 9x13” baking dish.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine half-and-half, butter, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract and Bisquick.
Mix well and pour mixture over top of the apple mixture in baking dish.
TOPPING:
Combine Bisquick and brown sugar in a medium mixing bowl.
Cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly and coarse crumbs form.
Stir in almonds.
Sprinkle topping over apple mixture.
Bake at 350° for 45-60 minutes, until apples are tender and mixture is lightly browned on top.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
NOTE:To make in crockpot: Place apple mixture in greased crockpot. Add first Bisquick mixture. Sprinkle topping over top. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-7 hours, or until apples are tender.
