Sausage Potato Chowder

This tasty and delicious soup is filled with sausage, seasoned Fried Potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic and cheese. It's slow cooked in the crockpot providing wonderful flavors and convenience. Sausage Potato Chowder is marvelous comfort food on cool fall and winter nights when you want something to warm you up! This recipe is gluten free.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups cooked bulk pork sausage crumbled
  • 4 cups seasoned Fried Potatoes (see note below)
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp. minced garlic from a jar or 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 carrots peeled and sliced
  • 32 oz. chicken broth
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 12 oz. can evaporated milk
  • 8 oz. sharp cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions
 

  • Place cooked sausage, potatoes, onions, carrots, garlic pepper and chicken broth in a crockpot.
  • Cook on low heat for about 4 hours.
  • Add evaporated milk and cheese.
  • Stir to heat through.

Notes

NOTE: You can also use regular, raw cubed Russet potatoes. Season with ½ teaspoon each of paprika, dill weed and garlic salt, ¼ tsp. black pepper and 1 tablespoon each of parsley and chives.
NOTE: Preparation time does not include time required to brown sausage or fry potatoes.
