Spaghetti and Meatballs With Italian Sausage
Spaghetti and Meatballs With Italian Sausage is so mouthwatering. This delicious entree uses both Italian sausage and ground beef in the meatballs. The Italian sausage gives the sauce a little zip and the meatballs provide the meaty, savory flavors we love in a good spaghetti dish.

My husband came home from the hospital and rehab in early August. He had been there for almost two months after suffering a stroke in early June. I asked him what he wanted to eat, since he was tired of hospital food. He told me he wanted some spaghetti but made with Italian sausage.
I used my basic recipe and added Italian sausage. I also tweaked my meatball recipe so they are even more flavorful. The result? Fantastic. Our neighbors across the street were moving at the time, so I asked them if they liked spaghetti. Yes, they did. Since I made so much sauce (more than we could eat), I took them some of the sauce and spaghetti noodles as well. They had enough for two meals.
They told me they loved the spaghetti and were grateful they didn’t have to cook during that very busy time. On top of that, they wanted the recipe. (That’s usually a good indication when you hit the gold mine.) 🙂
Spaghetti and Meatballs With Italian Sausage is a terrific family recipe that should be on your regular meal rotation. I made most of it in the crockpot. I do prefer to bake the meatballs (rather than fry). They seem to turn out a lot better that way and don’t take on excess calories due to the frying.
This is one of those comfort food meals where we can never get enough. This old-fashioned Italian themed dinner is hearty, filling and totally satisfying. For that matter, it’s great for company too. 🙂
Spaghetti and Meatballs With Italian Sausage is fantastic!
I make the sauce chunky with mushrooms, diced onions and whole tomatoes along with the meatballs and Italian sausage.
Every forkful is mouthwatering.
This irresistible entree will soon become a family favorite.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients for the sauce.
Brown Italian sausage and drain.
Place sausage on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess grease.
Spray a crock pot with cooking spray. Pour tomato puree into crockpot. Add diced tomatoes, whole tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir to combine.
Add diced onions, garlic, mushrooms and browned Italian sausage.
Add seasonings and bay leaves.
Stir to combine. Cover with lid and cook on high about 4-6 hours.
I used these ingredients for the meatballs.
Place ground beef in a large mixing bowl. Add onions, egg, parmesan cheese, seasoned bread crumbs, milk, Lawry’s seasoned salt, parsley, basil, oregano, pepper and thyme.
Work ingredients together with your hands until thoroughly mixed.
Shape meat mixture into meatballs and place on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes.
Remove meatballs from cookie sheet and place in crockpot. Cover and continue cooking 4-6 hours.
Remove bay leaves before serving.
Serve sauce over hot, cooked spaghetti noodles.
Garnish with parmesan cheese before serving.
We loved how Spaghetti and Meatballs With Italian Sausage turned out.
The meatballs are seasoned with parmesan cheese. Every bite is so, so good.
