Beef Stroganoff Casserole starts with a sauce that uses mushrooms, onions and garlic. Then ground beef is cooked and added. Beef broth is used to make the sauce rich. I used Klusky style Amish Noodles because I like them the best. Sour cream and mozzarella cheese are added before pouring everything into a baking dish.
I have only one suggestion for this recipe. Bake it without the panko bread crumb topping. Add that after the recipe has cooked, and you’ve fluffed up the noodles and other ingredients. Then put it back in the oven for a few minutes so the cheese melts.
I served this casserole for our church’s Friday night care group which we host weekly throughout the year. Without exception, this was a huge hit with everyone. Our folks kept going back for more of this amazing casserole.
It really is a delightful casserole and, because it serves so many, it’s great for a potluck or company dinner. If you enjoy Beef Stroganoff or Hamburger Stroganoff, you’ll love this version where the noodles are baked right up into the casserole.
Beef Stroganoff Casserole is the perfect comfort food meal during the fall, especially when the weather starts getting cooler. Every bite is mouthwatering.
Beef Stroganoff Casserole is an awesome comfort food meal.
I served it with Fried Green Beans.
Beef Stroganoff Casserole tastes heavenly.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients for the casserole.
Melt butter in a very large skillet over low to medium heat. Add onions and garlic. Saute about 2-3 minutes.
Add mushrooms and continue sauteeing.
Add ground beef.
Continue cooking over medium heat until ground beef is no longer pink.
Add flour and stir to combine.
Add tomato sauce, salt and pepper, and cooking wine (if using). Otherwise, just add beef broth.
Add beef broth. Bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for about 10 minutes.
Add sour cream and mozzarella cheese.
Stir to combine.
Meanwhile, cook noodles according to package directions but only to al dente. Drain.
Add noodles to beef mixture.
Stir to combine. It will seem soupy at this point but noodles will absorb liquid as the casserole bakes in the oven.
Pour mixture into a greased 9×13″ glass baking dish.
I used these ingredients for the topping.
Stir to combine.
While the original recipe stated to add the topping here, I do not recommend it.
Instead bake the casserole at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes. Fluff ingredients. Then add the topping. Bake an additional 5 minutes.
Beef Stroganoff Casserole was wonderful served with Fried Green Beans.
Our company gave this casserole rave reviews.
This casserole makes a lot so it’s perfect for potlucks or company.
Here’s the recipe.

Would you clarify the ingredient for that states “1/4 tsp. a medium red bell pepper?” It’s the third from the last ingredient in the casserole ingredients.
Thank you,
Mary

I think she means regular black pepper! That’s all I can come up with!

Hi, Pat. Yes, sometimes the program puts in different ingredients than I actually type! It’s very frustrating. I have to check it very carefully and obviously I didn’t this time. Thanks so much for bringing this to my attention.

I’m sorry Mary, the program I use sometimes does an auto correct function that I have to correct. I must have missed this. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
