Oreo Cookie Surprises

Teresa Ambra

Oreo Cookie Surprises rock! What’s not to love about Oreos stuffed in the middle of one of the most sensational chocolate chip cookie dough recipes you’ve ever tasted? Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies are all over the web, but I didn’t have time to bake cookies, I needed to make bars instead.

Follow Me On Instagram!

So, I took the idea of putting Oreo cookies in the middle of my Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Copycat Recipe and the rest is history. John took several batches of these as gifts recently and without exception they received high praise! The only change I made in the chocolate chip cookie base is to use one package of chocolate chunks in the dough instead of one-and-a-half bags of chocolate chips which is what the copycat recipe calls for. Still, there was enough chocolate in this tasty recipe for any sweet tooth!

These delicious brownies have it all–a nice crunch from the cookie and the Oreo in the middle, a tasty vanilla cream frosting from the Oreo itself, lots of chocolate from the Oreos and chocolate chips and, of course, plenty of sugar which makes all of it incredibly good. 🙂 Certainly, these marvelous brownies with the Oreo Cookie Surprise in the middle are great for tailgating or Superbowl parties. But these brownies are also a tasty treat for your family, coworkers, and friends! I’d highly recommend them for holiday baking–especially for something like Valentine’s Day!

If you’re looking for a superb brownie with rich, Oreo taste, then consider making up a batch of Oreo Cookie Surprises the next time you have a chance. Everyone who had one of these fantastic bars just raved over them and you will too! Really, it’s hard to improve upon Mrs. Field’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Copycat Recipe and Oreo cookies! They go together so wonderfully.

Baking Oreo cookies into bars is a lot easier than making individual cookies, too. So next time you need a chocolate fix, give these scrumptious brownies a try! Better make that two batches…. 😉

When I initially posted this recipe in January 2014, I wasn’t particularly happy with my pictures. They were okay but the light and color were off. I recently remade these fabulous bars (May 2015) and took a few new pictures. Our Friday night Care Group loved these bars. There’s nothing like having an Oreo in the middle of the best Chocolate Chip Cookie dough ever!

This close up shows the texture of the brownie and the hidden “surprise” in each one! It is hard to stop at one–or two–or three….You know what I mean.

Spray a glass 9×13″ baking dish with cooking spray. Spread and press down half of the cookie dough into the dish. I had to keep my hands moist in order to get the dough patted into the dish.

I was SUPER excited to find this recipe!!! I am going to be making this instead of a birthday cake (my son doesn’t like cake! crazy I know!!) I have a question though… how easily will this come out of the pan? I would like to flip it out like you do a cake, so I can put it on a tray and decorate it to look like a cake…

Hey, Tami, I don’t recall this coming out of the pan with any difficulty. But if you are going to try to flip it out, grease and flour the bottom and sides of the baking dish REALLY WELL. I think this will be better than using Baker’s Joy cooking spray. I would probably use a dish rather than a metal pan to bake it in, too, as that will help. I hope it turns out well. I’d love to see a picture! 🙂
