Cheddar Cheese Biscuits
I have another fabulous biscuit recipe for you today. Cheddar Cheese Biscuits are filled with cheddar cheese and chives and are simply wonderful. You know how much I love biscuits and bread. I’m willing to try just about any new Follow Me On Instagram!
I love the smell of freshly baked bread as it comes out of the oven. Biscuits and bread are my go-to comfort food of choice. This is another of those biscuit recipes but they just wouldn’t turn out well for me. Finally, something clicked when I tried Paula Deen’s Sweet Potato Biscuits recipe earlier this year. The recipe noted that the biscuits should be rolled out thickly. It was then that I realized the importance of this step, because otherwise my biscuits turned out like disks–heavy and unappealing. (I guess I was too heavy-handed with the rolling pin). When biscuits are rolled out too thin, they’re not fluffy like they should be. I also realized that working the dough is not so difficult if I knead it just like I would bread dough. After about 3-5 minutes of working the extra flour into the dough it’s ready to be cut and be placed in the pan. The nice thing about Cheddar Cheese Biscuits is they don’t have to raise like homemade bread! While my mom made lots of homemade bread growing up, she rarely made homemade biscuits. Once refrigerated biscuits became popular she used those, but she wasn’t one who made biscuits from scratch much. So for years I rarely ate biscuits. I didn’t know what I was missing. Good biscuits with plenty of flavor are scrumptious to the taste buds. Cheddar Cheese Biscuits are truly heavenly. If you’re a biscuit-lover like me, you’ll want to include this tasty recipe the next time you make a favorite soup recipe or other comfort food. I served Cheddar Cheese Biscuits with my Chicken and Stars Soup last week and both were wonderful. Quite frankly, I think Cheddar Cheese Biscuits would be great for a country breakfast as well as for dinner. Another easy thing about these biscuits is you cut them with a knife rather than using a biscuit cutter. It makes the process go a little bit more quickly. Give Cheddar Cheese Biscuits a try. You and your family will love them. Cheddar Cheese Biscuits are awesome! Cheddar Cheese Biscuits are bursting with the flavors of cheese and chives. Cheddar Cheese Biscuits are the ultimate comfort food, especially when they’re served with Chicken and Stars Soup! Cheddar Cheese Biscuits are good for what ails ya! Here’s what I did. I used these ingredients. The ingredient on the far right is dried milk powder. Place flour, sugar, dry milk powder, chives, cheddar cheese, baking powder and salt in a mixing bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until coarse crumbs form. Add water. Stir with a wooden spoon to combine. Place biscuit dough in a well-floured surface and pour more flour over top of dough. Knead and work flour into dough until the dough is no longer sticky. Here the dough is done. Shape dough into a rectangle. Cut dough into 12 pieces. Place biscuits on a cookie sheet that’s been lightly sprayed with cooking spray. Brush biscuits with melted butter. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through. (Mine took about 25 minutes). Brush biscuits with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven. Serve hot with butter! To serve Cheddar Cheese Biscuits: cut in half and spread with butter. We served Cheddar Cheese Biscuits with Chicken and Stars Soup. Cheddar Cheese Biscuits are great served with any main dish entree. We loved the texture of these fluffy, cheesy biscuits. Here’s the recipe. (Recipe adapted from Nestle’s Very Best Baking) I really drooled over these biscuits! The cheddar cheese and chives provide a rich, savory flavor in these lovely biscuits. These are actually wonderful with butter and honey drizzled over top. We loved Cheddar Cheese Biscuits and believe you will too!CHEDDAR CHEESE BISCUITS
