Herbed Cheese Bread
This Herbed Cheese Bread is fantastic. I so enjoy fresh homemade bread with a bowl of soup this time of year. This quick and easy bread recipe is filled with cheese in the batter and then on top. It includes fresh parsley, thyme, chives and oregano for seasonings. I like the fact that this bread can be made super fast almost like making cornbread. It’s a nice side for any main dish entree, but it’s particularly delicious with a comforting bowl of hot soup.

Back in August, we had some friends from our church who sold their house. They moved back in with their parents for a few months while renovating a house they bought. I brought them a meal that included homemade Chicken Noodle Vegetable Soup, this bread, and Caramel Chocolate Chip Blondies. I had made so much of the soup that I shared almost half of it with them and kept the rest for us.
They were so pleased and excited to have a home cooked meal when they were so busy with packing and cleaning. She told me they had been eating fast food for a couple of weeks so they really enjoyed the meal. The soup was so delicious, but the Herbed Cheese Bread was terrific to dip into it. It’s also great to dip into sauces that are served over meat as well.
If you’re looking for a dynamite bread recipe, this Herbed Cheese Bread is fabulous. Plus, as I said earlier, it’s so quick and easy to make it’s like making cornbread. It doesn’t have all the hard work of kneading or the time-delays of raising bread either. This is a terrific bread to serve for company too. You can pop it into the oven with everything else and have hot bread with your meal. Yum.
Herbed Cheese Bread is a delicious quick bread recipe that’s a terrific side for any entree.
The cheese and herbs make this bread special.
Herbed Cheese Bread is great for dipping into soups too.
I served this easy bread with Chicken Noodle Vegetable Soup.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Mix egg with half-and-half or milk.
Add UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour (bleached flour toughens baked goods). Add baking powder, salt, parsley, chives, oregano, thyme and part of the cheddar cheese.
Whisk ingredients to combine.
Place ingredients into a greased 9-or 10-inch round cake dish.
Cover with cheddar cheese.
Pour melted butter as evenly over top as possible.
The bread is ready for the oven.
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Serve bread hot from the oven.
Herbed Cheese Bread is so scrumptious.

Can any of the fresh herbs be substituted with half the amt. of dry herbs? We love quick breads, and this one sounds super yummy & easy. I have some fresh dill, so I wonder if I should that, too. Thanks for this great recipe.

Hi Angelina. Yes, you can certainly use dry herbs! I would use between one-third and one-half of each herb dried. Also, I’m sure dill would also be fantastic in this quick bread.
