I’ve made lots of versions of cookies with sea salt caramel chips. Those include plain (!) Sea Salt Caramel, Double Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel, Sea Salt Caramel Peanut Butter, Sea Salt Caramel White Chocolate. I’ve also made several brownies with them. Those include: Sea Salt Caramel Chip Brownies with Caramel Icing, Banana Sea Salt Caramel Blondies, Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate Chunk Brownies, and Peanut Butter Caramel Bars. They are all favorites. Sea Salt Caramel Chips just add so much to any kind of recipe.
In this recipe, I used my favorite Meltaway cookie recipe, but added the sea salt caramel chips to them. The original recipe came from an old friend decades ago and is spectacular with just about any kind of addition.
Back in April, we had some new neighbors move in across the street. John got to talking to them and asked if we could bring over a meal on their official “moving day.” They said, “Yes!” So I whipped up some Cavatini, Garlic Smashed Cauliflower, Spicy Creamed Corn, Easy No Knead Dinner Rolls, Pineapple Casserole and these delicious cookies for dessert. They loved the meal and were able to eat on it for a couple of days which made moving in so much easier. They raved over the cookies and loved everything I made, including my favorite deep-south dish, Pineapple Casserole!
Truly, Sea Salt Caramel Meltaways are a rich and decadent dessert your family will love for any occasion. I recommend them for tailgating or office parties, soccer or baseball practice, potlucks, family get-togethers and anytime you have company. Every bite is resistible. Don’t forget to put them on your holiday baking menu. Everyone will devour them. 🙂

Sea Salt Caramel Meltaways are a great treat to bring as a gift to new neighbors!
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Soften butter. Add granulated sugar, powdered sugar, eggs, canola oil, baking soda, cream of tartar, sea salt and vanilla.
Mix with an electric mixer until smooth.
Add UNBLEACHED flour (bleached flour toughens baked goods). Add Sea Salt Caramel Chips.
Stir well with a heavy metal spoon until thoroughly mixed.
Scoop cookie dough with large cookie scoop.
Place cookie dough on greased cookie sheets about three inches apart.
Bake at 350 degrees about 12-14 minutes or until done. Rotate cookie sheets on racks every six-seven minutes of baking time.

Any suggestions or tips if the flour isn’t mixing well and is crumbly

Hi, KC, keep stirring! Sometimes it takes me a good 5 minutes to get it thoroughly mixed. Are you using softened butter? That will also make a difference.

I can’t find the sea salt Carmel chips. Where do you get them?

Hi Sharon, I usually get them at Kroger. You might also check H-E-B if you’re in Texas or other high end grocery stores like Trader Joes or Whole Foods Market. I have purchased them at Walmart before, but usually we end up having to go to Kroger or Tom Thumb.
