Gluten Free Living – 2022
Bacon Pear Salad with Romano Dressing is such a delightful salad recipe. This one includes fresh pears, bacon and Pepper Jack cheese in the salad. The mayonnaise dressing includes a honey-mustard, romano cheese and half-and-half. It’s thick, creamy and really delicious. It tops off the salad really well.

My son and daughter-in-law had a baby a few months ago. I volunteered to bring them several meals that first week so they wouldn’t have to spend time in the kitchen. One of the meals overlapped when Laura’s parents were in town. That meal included my favorite chicken recipe, Parmesan Chicken Bake. I also made Seasoned Mashed Potatoes, Fried Green Beans, my homemade Easy No Knead Dinner Rolls, a Kit Kat Chocolate Pie and this lovely salad. I also sent over some Blackberry Sweet Rolls for breakfast.
They loved all the recipes and especially the luxury of not having to cook dinner. But I have to admit I really enjoyed the salad as I kept back some of it for us! The salad dressing was phenomenal. The honey-mustard added just the right amount of tang. And, after all, who can resist bacon anytime or place??? 🙂
Bacon Pear Salad with Romano Dressing is an easy and elegant salad that’s perfect to make for company dinners or special occasions. But if you enjoy salad as much as we do, you may find you want it on your own regular meal rotation as well. Enjoy.
Bacon Pear Salad with Romano Dressing is fantastic.
Everything is always a little bit better with bacon.
The Romano Dressing is outstanding. I used a Honey-Mustard instead of Dijon Mustard and it really carried the day.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients for the salad.
Combine romaine lettuce and spinach in a large salad bowl. Set aside.
Cook bacon and drain on paper towels. I actually microwaved the bacon since it gets every drop of fat out of the bacon. Crumble in one-inch pieces and set aside.
Slice pears and dip in lemon juice.
Drain the pears on paper towels.
Place pears over top of lettuce.
Add broke bacon pieces and Pepper Jack cheese. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
I used these ingredients for the salad dressing.
Place mayonnaise in a mixing bowl. Add sugar, honey-mustard or Dijon mustard, garlic powder, pepper, romano cheese, sugar and half-and-half.
Whisk really well until salad dressing is smooth.
Pour salad dressing into a cruet or other salad dressing dispenser and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Place salad on individual plates. Add salad dressing to serve.
Bacon Pear Salad with Romano Dressing is wonderful. This is a terrific salad for company or holiday dinners.
The combined sweetness from the pears and savory flavors from the bacon and cheese is amazing.
Here’s the recipe.
